On June 7th, 2014, George Strait made history with his farewell tour performance at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in front of an astounding crowd of over 104,000 people—the largest-ever attendance for a single act in the United States.
Miranda Lambert joined George on stage for two memorable duets, “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls” and “Run.” These stunning moments were among the evening’s most talked-about highlights.
Many people may be unaware that Miranda’s adoration for George extends well beyond the stage. Their friendship is strong, and it was enhanced even more by a personal, poignant narrative.
The video has garnered positive feedback from fans all across the world. A viewer expressed, “The intensity between them was unparalleled.” ‘Run’ sounded studio-perfect. “They really caught lightning in a bottle with that duet.” Another said, “I’ll never tire of hearing George Strait and Miranda Lambert perform this song. How about those cowgirls?
But what makes Miranda’s affection for George so unique?

“I was 22 years old when I went on tour with George, and my father accompanied us. My dad was really furious because I had gotten a tattoo. He was enraged, and we didn’t speak for a time.
Miranda and her father shared a bus throughout the tour, and to avoid more stress, she had to cover up her tattoo for two weeks. But George, a parent who appreciates the value of family, attempted to relieve the situation. George knew the emotional intricacies since he had experienced his own loss—the sad death of his daughter, Jennifer.
On the penultimate day of their trip, George came up with an idea to lighten the mood. He arranged for 75 temporary tattoos to be sent to the whole tour staff, with each one placed on their arm in the precise location where Miranda received her tattoo. The idea was simple: to relieve stress and bring everyone back together.
When Miranda stepped in for the group shot, she was taken aback to realize that nearly 60 crew members, including her father, had the identical tattoo. It was a heartfelt and hilarious approach to mend the relationship.
