Denzel Washington recently stated in an interview that he turned down a key role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that would have earned him more than $30 million because he did not want to be a part of what he deemed a “woke” narrative. Washington stated that he was given the role of a key character whose secret homosexuality would have been revealed, but the notion did not appeal to him.
Washington did not say whose identity he was given, but Marvel experts have narrowed it down to Thanos or Groot, despite the fact that none of those identities were the ones he received.

Because Marvel has such a large roster of superheroes, determining which one it is is impossible. Some fans have speculated that Agent Carter and Black Widow may have a romantic relationship.
Washington has made it clear that he is not interested in participating in storylines that he regards as “woke.” He believes that his abilities are better suited for films with award-winning potential, such as his celebrated performance in “Remember the Titans,” for which he won critical praise.
Washington is presently refusing to accept 11 black Oscars and proudly displays three traditional Oscars on top of his refrigerator.
