Derek Hough reveals that his wife Hayley is on the ‘long road to recovery’ following an emergency craniectomy

Derek Hough wishes to express his appreciation to everyone who has expressed concern for the recovery of his wife, Hayley Erbert.

“Words cannot express how grateful we are for the support and love that you have given us,” the Dancing with the Stars judge, 38, said on Friday in an Instagram update.

Hough has always been inspired by Erbert’s “strength and her resilience,” particularly in the previous 48 hours, he added. “She is now on the long road to recovery,” he remarked, alluding to her recent health problem during a stop on their Symphony of Dance tour in Washington, D.C.

The 29-year-old is in the hospital recuperating following an “emergency craniectomy.”

“The kindness shown to us in this incredibly unfathomable, life-changing time is immeasurable.” “The outpouring of offers of help has been both humbling and appreciated,” Hough said on Friday. “Our hope is that, as a family, we can somehow and someway pay it forward.”

Julianne Hough, the television personality’s sister, had earlier requested fans keep Erbert in their prayers.

“Please pray for Hayley and Derek and send all your love, healing, and light,” the Dancing with the Stars co-host, 35, posted on her Instagram Story. “Thank you from the depths of our families’ hearts!”

Her statement came after Hough announced on Thursday that Erbert was being treated for a cerebral hematoma, a disease in which blood gathers in the head.

“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” he said in a statement. “She had a cranial hematoma caused by a burst blood vessel and needed an emergency craniectomy.” She is in good health.”

“I’d like to express my gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel who have cared for and continue to care for her.” “I ask for your prayers and positive energy during this difficult time,” Hough wrote.

Peta Murgatroyd, Jenna Johnson, Allison Holker, and Candace Cameron Bure, among others, voiced their support in Hough’s Instagram comment area.

“I haven’t stopped praying and won’t stop,” Jennifer Love Hewitt said. I’m pleased you have each other and a lovely family to support her and you. “I’m sending you all healing and love.”

Hough and Erbert married in August after getting engaged in June of last year.

The pair married at the end of summer in Monterey County, California, in front of 106 guests.

“We’re in a redwood forest, but we got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” Erbert told the newspaper at the time. “They scatter all the seeds, and it grows into an army of children to protect the mother.” It was magnificent in its symbolism. We’ve come to plant our seeds to build our family.”
