Despite criticism, Ted Nugent stands up for Jason Aldean’s new song, calling the critics…

The topic of tremendous controversy surrounding Jason Aldean’s new song, “Try That In a Small Town,” has now been taken up by country musician Ted Nugent.

The song received a lot of criticism for being “racist” and “pro-lynching,” and when other singers and celebrities voiced their concerns, it was even taken off the air.

The hosts of the well-known daytime talk show The View really discussed the kinds of messages the song alludes to. Aldean’s choice of images in the song video, which included altercations between Black Lives Matter demonstrators and police, was criticized by co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

According to Goldberg, “He talks about how life in a small town is different, and he chose these images.”

“He’s got people from the Black Lives Matter movement, and he’s talking about people taking care of each other, and I find it so interesting that it never occurred to Jason or the writers that that’s what these folks were doing: They were taking care of the people in their town because they didn’t like what they saw,” she continued.

After being compelled to explain himself last week over the song, Aldean wrote on Twitter:

“In the past 24 hours, I have faced accusations of publishing a song that supports lynching (a tune that has been available since May) and have been compared to someone who (exact quote) wasn’t too happy with the widespread BLM protests. These references are risky in addition to being worthless.

“While I can try and respect others right to have their own interpretation of a song with music, this one goes too far,” he stated. “There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it, and there is not a single video clip that isn’t real news footage.”

The vocalist of “Dirt Road Anthem” said, “Try That In A Small Town,” which for me speaks to the sense of community I experienced as a child, where we looked out for one another despite differences in background or belief. Due to the fact that their proximity to us outweighed any distinctions.

In response, Ted Nugent entered the debate to support Aldean, saying on Fox News over the weekend (as reported by the New York Post): “I know there are a lot of fools out there, but you need to learn to like the idiots. The reason why the ignorant despise this Jason Aldean song is that we defy violence.

They constantly flip it 180 degrees incorrectly, he continued. There is no violence in this song. The song is a defensive one. The song is about defending your area and your loved ones. If you have a problem with a song that glorifies defending your community and your loved ones, you should probably head to Target’s Satanic exhibit and bow down.

These are just strange individuals. We disregard them because they have become out of control and lack a soul. I smile at them,” he continued.
