Devastating reason why family was heading to New York when helicopter fell into the Hudson River…

Earlier this week, a helicopter carrying a family of five crashed into the Hudson River in New York.

Tragically, all five passengers, including the pilot, died in the collision.

Siemens executive Agustín Escobar of Barcelona, Spain, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children traveled to New York.

The event occurred at 3.17pm Eastern Time on April 10, when the helicopter, which New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed was flown by New York Helicopters, fell into the Hudson River.

In a statement, New York Helicopters stated, “The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew has always been the cornerstone of our operations.”

Meanwhile, the helicopter’s owner, Michael Roth, 71, has subsequently told The Telegraph: “He [the pilot] called in that he was landing and that he needed fuel, and it should have taken him about three minutes to arrive, but 20 minutes later, he didn’t arrive.”

While an inquiry into what went wrong is ongoing, it is known that the trip lasted around 18 minutes. According to the data, the aircraft flew north along the Manhattan skyline before turning south toward the Statue of Liberty.

However, shortly later, the chopper crashed into a river near Jersey City’s waterfront.

According to PA News, the family traveled to New York to celebrate one of their children’s ninth birthdays.

Mr. Escobar was apparently in the city for business, but his family traveled over to extend the stay.

Mayor Eric Adams informed Fox 5 that the child’s birthday was on Friday (April 11). “So this is certainly part of the standard tourist draw of viewing the city from a high vantage point.

“But it’s a very awful scenario. Our hearts go out to the family members.”

An eyewitness called Max told ABC News about the collision, stating that he heard the horror occur before witnessing the wreckage.

“It sounded like a sonic boom, so I saw the helicopter split in two, with the rotor flying off in the sky at such high speeds that it just went straight into the water.”

“Nothing came up after that; it must have sunk, and I waited five minutes for the cops.

“I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.”
