Diane von Furstenberg said that she had a fall in Los Angeles.
In an Instagram picture on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the fashion designer, 78, published a pair of photographs revealing a significant bruise over one of her eyes.
“Upon arrival in LA, I fell on the pavement and hit my forehead!” she said in the caption. “It does not seem good, but I’m thankful there is nothing more serious!!! I’m embracing it, using a lot of arnica gel, and glad it didn’t get worse!! Owning it is the secret to survival!”
The designer’s fans, including several celebrities, have responded with encouragement and well-wishes on the post.
“Oh, Diane!!!” I’m so pleased it’s not worse. “I love you!!!” Tracee Ellis Ross remarked.

The singer Jewel wrote, “You miserable creature! I once had a dog leap up when I was going down to touch it, breaking my orbital bone and giving me the worst black eye! However, all you can do is own it! ❤️❤️🩹”
“Oh no. “I’m so sorry,” cosmetics artist and business owner Bobbi Brown said.
Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge, a documentary on her classic wrap dress, will be released in 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary.
“I didn’t know when I made that little dress that it was going to be a social phenomenon and that people would be buying it 50 years later,” she told PEOPLE in June of the iconic design.
“I made the wrap dress, but it made me. The novelist and philanthropist simply said, “I owe her as much as she owes me.”

The designer recovered ownership of her DFV brand in August 2024, after four years with Chinese licensee Glamel. At the time, it was also revealed that von Furstenberg would hire fashion executive Graziano di Boni to help with the changeover.
“I’m taking back control of the business right now, so you will see a lot of exciting things starting next year,” von Furstenberg told PEOPLE at the launch of her “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman Before Fashion” exhibition in Los Angeles in October 2024.
“It took me all the COVID years,” she explained. “I was taking stock of what it is and what the terminology is, and then I rehired the finest individuals I had. And we’ll start in February.
