Most Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ subscriptions will cost $1 to $2 extra per month beginning in mid-October, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday. The most costly Hulu subscriptions, which feature live TV, will cost an additional $6 per month.
Disney+ Basic and Premium will cost $9.99 and $15.99, respectively. Hulu will cost $9.99 a month with ads and $18.99 without ads. ESPN Plus, which includes advertisements, will cost $11.99 a month.
The price increases come as Disney tries to encourage customers to bundle their purchases to get more bang for their dollar.
Disney has long offered a bundle of its services, such as Hulu and Disney+, or the two streaming services combined with ESPN+. The present Disney+ and Hulu combo, which includes commercials, will also see a price increase this autumn, from $1 to $10.99 per month. The identical package, without commercials, will remain at its current monthly price of $19.99.
Disney has also joined with Warner Bros. Discovery to provide a package that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max. In July, the firms said the bundle would be available for $16.99 with advertisements or $29.99 commercial-free, highlighting “a 38% savings compared to the price of the services purchased separately.”
According to the statement on Tuesday, Disney also hopes to tempt customers with ABC News Live and a playlist of preschool programming, which will be available to all users beginning September 4. The business intends to provide four additional tailored playlists for premium users.
“Playlists are the latest example of how we’re providing the best value and experience for our subscribers every time they open Disney+,” said Alisa Bowen, president of the streaming service, in a news release.
Disney will publish its fiscal third-quarter profits before the bell on Wednesday.
