Dolly Parton’s fan with cancer will never forget the surprise she makes for him

Dolly Parton is bringing joy to one of her lifelong fans, LeGrand Gold from Utah, who was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer in 2021. Gold included a meeting with the country superstar in his bucket list, and just before Christmas, the 77-year-old “Jolene” singer made his dream come true with a surprise phone call.

During the call, Parton sang a song with Gold’s name in it, leaving him feeling immortal. Gold’s wife, Alice, expressed the family’s gratitude, saying, “Out of the 11 items [on the list], we thought Dolly would be impossible, but true to Dolly form, she once again reminds the world that dreams really do come true.”

In a video shared on YouTube, Parton greeted Gold as “LG” and herself as “Dolly P.” She expressed happiness at having a devoted fan like Gold and thanked him for allowing her to be part of his journey. Gold, a computer programmer and father of five, has been a longtime fan and a Tennessee native who frequents Parton’s Dollywood.

Last year, Alice created a bucket list for Gold, called “LG’s List of Living,” which included nearly a dozen items. Parton’s call marked the latest achievement on the list, with the singer expressing her love for Gold and even singing a personalized version of her famous lyric.

Gold, facing a terminal prognosis due to liver failure, is spending the holiday season with his family, who are still working to complete his bucket list. They plan to have a fake wedding on Jan. 13, allowing their four daughters to experience a father-daughter dance with their dad.

The call from Dolly Parton has undoubtedly brought joy and comfort to Gold and his family during this challenging time.
