In a frank Instagram video posted on Saturday, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson discussed what it’s like to be famous.
In answer to several fan concerns, the wrestler-turned-actor stated that he saw no disadvantages to being famous.
“For me, the drawbacks are—there are no drawbacks to fame,” Johnson stated in the video. “I have been a lucky son of a bitch to have been famous for a long time, and I realize that there are no drawbacks to fame because I remember how shit once was.”

The 51-year-old went on to discuss the difficulties he had early in his career.
Johnson claimed that before he became famous, he couldn’t pay his rent and was unsure of who he was.
He stated that the fight to get by each day was constantly at the forefront of his thoughts. These concerns served to keep him grounded even as he rose to become one of Hollywood’s highest-paid performers.
“I always say, ‘I’m a day away from being evicted again, so it keeps me hungry,” Johnson stated. “So for me, there are no drawbacks to fame.”
In the video, the actor admits that he has many famous friends who disagree with him.
“Having a difference of opinion is OK. It encourages discussion. “It invites debate,” he remarked.
Having said that, Johnson confesses that he had to learn to live without being able to go out in public as frequently or as easily.

“Man, I miss coming to the mall. I miss going shopping.” I’m just getting in my car and driving to the grocery store, drugstore, mall, or wherever,” Johnson stated in the video.
Nonetheless, he emphasizes that being known in public isn’t a disadvantage for superstars like him because it’s what he “signed up for.”
Johnson suffered five knee operations while attending the University of Miami. The next stage in his career was the 1996 debut of “Rocky Maivia,” his original wrestling moniker. He would go on to win the WWE heavyweight championship six times.
He made his feature-film debut in 2001 with “The Mummy Returns.” Johnson was most recently seen in the DC Comics superhero film “Black Adam,” which was released in 2022.
