An elderly priest from Australia was dying. He summoned an Australian Tax Office supervisor and his lawyer to the hospital. They were shown up to his room when they arrived. As they entered the room, the priest beckoned for them to sit on either side of the bed.
The priest took their hands in his, sighed blissfully, smiled, and looked up at the ceiling. No one said anything for a while. The Australian Tax Office Supervisor and the lawyer were both moved and delighted when the old man asked them to accompany him in his dying moments. The events baffled them in a similar way. They were also perplexed since the priest had never indicated a preference for either of them. Finally, the lawyer inquired, “Father, why did you ask the two of us to come here?” The ancient priest summoned all his might before speaking faintly.
