A 16-year-old Atlanta teenager jumped into the sea while on vacation at a Florida beach after noticing a group of young children fighting to keep their heads above water. Bryce Brooks was on his way to Pensacola when the incident occurred.
Shivy Brooks, Bryce’s father, stated during a press conference that Bryce and his friends observed four little children being pushed by the current. Bryce and two other buddies came to his aid without hesitation.
Their other friends fled in search of adults who could assist them in rescuing the youngsters. Bryce cried for aid as he was being dragged by the currents at the moment.
Their vacation was over spring break, and the late adolescent had just made the honor roll a week before.
His father explained that Bryce was not seeking assistance for himself but for the children, he wished to save. There were no lifeguards on duty at the time, and the beach flags were yellow, indicating moderate currents in the ocean.
Soon after, Bryce’s family friend Charles Johnson II, known to them as “Uncle Chuck,” leaped in to save him. He was a powerful swimmer, but he couldn’t compete with the currents at the time.
Bryce and Uncle Chuck were both dragged underwater. Bryce’s family is heartbroken by the loss of their beloved son.
Their child, on the other hand, was a hero to them. They find comfort in the fact that he passed away voluntarily and without regrets, as his mother put it:
“We’ll never get to see Bryce grow up and become the man he was supposed to be.” But we know he acted like a man to save these children. That makes me happy.”
Bryce’s father agreed. “Bryce is a true hero. “He literally saved four children’s lives at the expense of his own,” he claimed.
His family recalled Bryce as a creative guy who loved music and fashion. Their vacation was over spring break, and the late adolescent had just made the honor roll a week before.
Many individuals have inquired how they may aid the bereaved family since the terrible occurrence. The non-profit Get Your Teach On launched a GoFundMe campaign for Bryce to be used for funeral expenses to kickstart the Bryce Brooks Foundation.
The charity intends to give swimming lessons, CPR training, and other courses to youngsters in order to help them save lives. They believe that teaching these crucial lessons to the children will prevent such occurrences from occurring in the future.
After receiving over 2,300 gifts, the campaign quickly exceeded its target. They’ve received $109,647 and counting, much above their original $75,000 goal.
Christian, Bryce’s 6-year-old sibling, and his parents were still alive. He wasn’t with the family at the time of the tragedy and found out about his brother’s death after reuniting with his parents and grandparents.
People complimented Bryce and Uncle Chuck for their bravery on the internet. They praised the pair’s selflessness and how they had left an imprint not only on the children they rescued and their families but also on the whole globe.
