Fans are furious when ‘Wheel of Fortune’ refuses to give prize to the woman who answered correctly

We have reprinted this item following its initial publication in January 2024. Viewers of “Wheel of Fortune” are demonstrating in anger, believing a contestant named Megan unfairly lost out on $40,000 for a potentially viable answer.

Megan, a married choir director at a high school in California, had to complete a bonus task containing two phrases from the “Living Thing” category.

When presenter Pat Sajak directed Megan to the puzzle board while the wheel was spinning, the unfinished phrase “_ N’R _ _ _” became visible.

Megan carefully chose the letters and adjusted the board to say, “P_N_’ RC_D.”

In the final 10 seconds, Megan shouted out her guess, which could be either “Pink Orchid” or “Something Orchid.” Megan shrieked in fury when the timer rang and the correct letters came on the screen, “Pink Orchid.”

Sajak, sensing she could be accurate, revealed the prize estimate card and handed Megan a hearty $40,000—far more than the $14,007 she eventually got.

Viewers in their living rooms were unable to accept the conclusion and rushed to Wheel of Fortune to voice their displeasure with Megan’s reaction, which they felt was unfairly incorrect.

“The woman got screwed on the #WheelOfFortune bonus puzzle tonight; she totally said ‘PINK ORCHID’ right at the start,” stated a Twitter user.

As soon as she made her statement, I immediately questioned the judges! I have limited hearing in one ear and deafness in the other; therefore, I lip-read and utilize subtitles. She referred to me as “Pink Orchid.” “Definitely!” said another admirer.

“Pink orchid,” she murmured in understanding. “WTF?” said a third individual.

The present farce had baffled two of the competitors, but Jill, the third applicant, found it out by guessing two “y’s,” resulting in the rhyme “Absolutely Positively.”

“Positively” is not a rhyme, according to supporters who strongly opposed the decision.

“Hello, @WheelofFortune,” one of the viewers wrote. Could you please explain how these two words rhyme? Because they surely do not.
