Fans believe replacing Anya Taylor-Joy in reboot of iconic horror film is ‘unforgivable’

Fans watching a new video for a classic horror revival were ‘p**sed’ by one of the casting decisions.

Usually, relaunched films and TV programs receive an expected response, with many fans stating that ‘no one is asking for this’ or that it won’t stand a candle to the original.

However, the new horror film Nosferatu, a revival of the 1922 film of the same name, is drawing criticism for an entirely different reason after releasing its first teaser trailer yesterday (June 24).

The next horror film’s cast doesn’t include Anya Taylor-Joy, which fans are upset about.

While the Robert Eggers-helmed project has been in the works since 2015, Taylor-Joy has been involved since 2017.

However, due to scheduling conflicts, the celebrity had to step down, and Lily Rose-Depp took her place.

Some fans have expressed their displeasure on social media, with some going so far as to term the decision ‘unforgivable.’
“Damn, I really wanted to see Anya in Nosferatu,” a fan lamented.

“It should’ve been Anya; why did you drop from Nosferatu? I don’t think I could forgive you,” said a third.

A third said, “I’m so p****d; Anya would have been perfect in Nosferatu; I lost so badly.”

“I’m kind of living for Lily Rose in the Nosferatu teaser, but I can’t help but imagine how good Anya would have been,” stated a different individual.
“Lily replacing Anya is why people (including me) were apprehensive about going in. I hope LRD will do well in Nosferatu!” You’re already doing an excellent job with your expressions,” added one upbeat fan.

So, although many fans are apprehensive or curious about what Taylor-Joy will contribute to the table, others are optimistic that the film will still be a wonderful and dark gothic thriller.

According to the blurb, Nosferatu is a ‘Gothic story of obsession between a disturbed young lady and the scary vampire fascinated with her, leaving unfathomable terror in its aftermath.’

Nosferatu also stars Emma Corrin, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe.

We plan to release the film in theaters around Christmas 2024, but we have not yet graded it.
