Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy and Fox Business reporter Hillary Vaughn had their first child on Thursday, according to People magazine.
People magazine reported that Doocy and Vaughn, married since 2021, welcomed their daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, on February 1. Vaughn, who joined Fox News in 2016, described being a mother as “the best assignment” she has ever had.
“I didn’t know it until now, but I’ve been preparing for parenting my whole career by attempting to persuade senators on Capitol Hill to reply to my inquiries. This work isn’t too different,” Vaughn told People magazine.
Vaughn said her water broke as she was on her way to work on Capitol Hill, something she was “prepared” for. She claimed she knew where to locate senators who used to be physicians, and that Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who was a doctor in Wyoming, advised her to contact him if she needed anything.
Doocy stated that White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre joked with him last month about what he should name his kid, suggesting that he call her “Karine.”
“During a press briefing last month, the press secretary gave me permission to name the baby Karine, and I joked that we were thinking about naming the baby ‘Joe-sephine.’ “But we can tell you for the first time that her name is Bridget Blake Doocy,” he told People.
“Fox & Friends” presenter Steve Doocy also revealed the birth of his first grandchild on Thursday’s episode, adding he is “so proud.” He said he and Kathy Doocy will help with the baby so the new parents can go out.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn welcome a newborn daughter, and a White House journalist recalls advice Joe Biden provided him.
FOX News White House correspondent Peter Doocy and his wife, Hillary Vaughn, became first-time parents with the birth of their daughter.
Doocy and Vaughn welcomed baby Bridget Blake Doocy on February 1 and shared a gorgeous photo of the child with People.
The photographs show the first-time parents cuddling their tiny bundle of joy, who is wearing a pink onesie with her name stitched on the front.
Doocy stated that when he approached President Joe Biden for parenting advice, the nation’s leader replied, “Hold her tight.”
“Meet Bridget Blake Doocy! I asked @JoeBiden for advice on becoming a new father at the White House Christmas reception. His advice: “Hold her tightly. “Will do!” the new father said on Twitter.
Little Bridget was born in northern Virginia, weighing eight pounds and one ounce.
“I didn’t know it until now, but I’ve been preparing for parenting my whole career by attempting to persuade senators on Capitol Hill to reply to my inquiries. “This job isn’t completely unique,” Vaughn told People.
‘”Baby Bridget, could you offer us a comment? Are you hungry, gassy, or both? Trying to get an on-the-record response is difficult!”
The new mom told the magazine that her water broke as she was on her way to Capitol Hill.
“I knew where all the offices were for senators who used to be doctors,” she told me.
“Sen. Barrasso (Wyoming physician of the year) met me the day before I went into labor and advised me to contact him if I ever needed anything. Fortunately, I didn’t need to contact him to get the kid!
“I’ve only been a mother for a week, yet this is already the finest assignment I’ve ever had.” She has stolen the show!”
Doocy joked about some of the name choices he received from White House workers while covering press conferences before his daughter’s birth.
“During a briefing last month, the press secretary gave me permission to name the baby Karine, and I joked that we were considering naming the baby ‘Joe-sephine.’ “But we can tell you for the first time that her name is Bridget Blake Doocy,” he told People.
Last September, the White House correspondent and his wife, a fellow Fox Business reporter, revealed their pregnancy live during a cookery show.
Doocy’s father, Steve, appeared on-air for the episode when he contributed a dish from The Simply Happy Cookbook.
The co-hosts and anchors gathered to sample Doocy’s Iowa Caucus Casserole, which was inspired by his stint as a White House correspondent.
“This food is particularly good if you are really hungry, and Hillary is hungry all of the time,” Steve told me.
“That’s because I’m eating for two,” Vaughn explained before she and her husband revealed they were expecting a baby.
Steve praised his son and daughter-in-law, telling People, “When I published a book on parenthood, I emphasized a famous quotation that says, ‘There are three stages of a man’s life: he believes in Santa Claus, he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, and he is Santa Claus.’ Congratulations, Peter. You’ve made it to the third round of parenting.
Doocy and Vaughn got married in a simple ceremony in South Carolina in 2021.
His best man was his father, who posted images of his son’s wedding on Fox & Friends, where he co-hosts.
Steve co-hosts Fox & Friends with Ainsley Earhardt, Brian Kilmeade, and others, which airs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Little Bridget is the third Fox News baby born recently.
Carley Shimkus, a co-host of Fox & Friends First, and her husband, Peter Buchignani, welcomed their newborn son, Brock Edward, last week.
Meanwhile, Fox News presenter Kayleigh McEnany and her husband, former New York Mets pitcher Sean Gilmartin, had their second child, Nash, in December.
