Recently, an Arizonan father and daughter realized the dream of a lifetime—they piloted their first Southwest Airlines aircraft together!
According to a Facebook post from the airline, MacKenzie Rennhack recently joined the Southwest Airlines family and celebrated by taking a flight with her dad, along with her mom, brother, and fiancé.
According to the airline, First Officer Mackenzie “always knew she wanted to be a pilot” and went so far as to dress up like her father for primary school.

“Once gifted a ‘discovery flight’ (a short introductory flight for those interested in taking the first step toward earning their pilot’s license), Mackenzie knew she was meant to fly,” the airline stated.
After deciding to attend Arizona State University for college, MacKenzie quickly signed up for the Southwest Airlines Destination 225° Pilot Pathways Program, which, according to the airline’s website, assists participants in realizing their aviation goals “no matter your flight experience, current career, or education.”

In an interview with KNXV-TV, a local ABC affiliate, Michael stated that his daughter has “always been the overachiever.”
“A 110% isn’t good enough; she’ll push herself a little bit harder and get a little bit better,” he continued.
Despite their successful maiden flight, the father-daughter pair had to adjust to a new situation.

She laughed as she said to KNXV-TV, “The weirdest thing was figuring out what to call you.” She listed a few possibilities to consider: “It’s like, dad, Mike, captain.”
Welcome aboard, First Officer Mackenzie; we’re so delighted you’re here! Southwest Airlines gently concluded their post with a joyful message.
