Gisele Bündchen has been focused on her own health since her divorce from Tom Brady, and alcohol is no longer a part of her life. The 43-year-old model spoke up about her fitness journey in an interview with PEOPLE published on September 19, stating that she stopped drinking after recognizing it didn’t give her any health advantages.
Bündchen stated that after her 40th birthday, she realized that even the occasional drink, in addition to coffee, no longer suited her well. “Right after I turned 40, actually, I felt a huge difference between when I had the glass of wine and when I didn’t have the glass of wine,” she explained. “A glass of wine is socially acceptable. People even remark, ‘Oh, it’s good for you.’ Well, it’s not good for me. If you ask your body what I ask of mine, which is a lot, you can’t have all of these things because they add up.”
Shen went on to describe how giving up alcohol has helped her, stating she’s become “clearer” and now sleeps better without it. “I felt a little foggy before,” she said. “I’m now very sharp and present, and I notice things I didn’t notice before. “You must be kind to yourself. You put a lot of strain on your body, and you need to reset. You have to take care of your one and only automobile, right?”

On September 15, Bündchen revealed that she hadn’t had a drink in over two years while speaking on a panel promoting her new relationship with Gaia Herbs. “I haven’t drunk alcohol in over two years, and it’s amazing how much more clear [I feel],” she remarked, before going on to explain that her mental health worsened as a result of drinking when she was younger. “In my early 20s, I had severe panic attacks and depression,” she recounted. “When you’re a teenager or in your twenties, you think nothing can hurt you, that you can do anything, that you’re a superhero.” No, not so much. “Your body will tell you.”
Bündchen now relies on regular workouts and morning meditations to preserve her mental health, emphasizing the actual value of health maintenance. “I’m just so grateful to have this body, I truly am,” she added. “I realized that my body is my temple, and I want to enjoy it.” So moving my body is really important to me.”
