Thanksgiving is just over a month away, which means it’s almost time for food, football, and Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench’s seventh annual get-together.

Once strangers, it only took one inadvertent text message to bring the two people together, who are now great friends and celebrate the holiday together every year.

Is there a more heartfelt story out there?

Even if you haven’t been following Jamal and Wanda’s story from the beginning, chances are you’ve come across their unexpected relationship at some point in the previous few years, and the two are now gearing up for their eighth Thanksgiving together.

It all started in 2016, when Wanda tried to text her grandson to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner but inadvertently texted Jamal.

Jamal decided to take his risk and inquired whether he could ‘ still receive a plate’ despite being a complete stranger.

“Of course, you can,” Wanda answered. “That’s what grandma’s do: feed everyone.”

Jamal was delighted at the opportunity to attend the Thanksgiving dinner, and when Wanda invited him again the following year, he established a pattern of spending the holiday with his newfound buddy.

Users who have followed the narrative have grown more and more excited with each passing year, and in May, Jamal revealed that followers would be able to witness the duo work together on TV when they paired up for the game show The Cube.

With their love stronger than ever, Jamal revealed last week that he will be spending Thanksgiving with Wanda again this year; however, fans may be in for a few surprises.

Jamal claimed in a post on X that he had yet again received a wrong-number SMS.

Jamal, perplexed, questioned who was texting and received a reply from his ‘long-lost daughter’.

Jamal responded to the text, introducing himself and wishing the texter well in getting in touch with their father, as they’d been attempting to do in the first place.

Jamal didn’t say whether he’d made another Wanda-like acquaintance through this unintentional text, but he did hint that it may be related to this year’s Thanksgiving festivities.

He commented, alongside screenshots of the interaction, “Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I am still receiving text from a random number!” Year 8 preparations have been finalized, and there will be a big surprise!”

We’ll have to wait and see what Jamal and Wanda have in store for us this year, but if their track record is any indication, it’ll be something good!
