Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken up about a case in which a guy wanted $3 million from her after a skiing mishap.
Terry Sanderson sued the actor after the incident in 2016, finally suing him back for $1.
With Paltrow just speaking out for the first time since the high-profile lawsuit, many will be intrigued about her countersuit and why she has taken a stand against the entire situation.
What has Gwyneth Paltrow said?
The Iron Man actor discussed the 2023 trial on The World’s First Podcast, presented by Erin and Sara Foster.

She spoke up on the show about the event and the subsequent lawsuit, stating, “I have to say, the thought that someone could ski into your back, knock you down, and then sue you.
“I was thinking, ‘This is everything that’s wrong with our justice system. That was absurd. That’s why I felt compelled to combat it. I was thinking, ‘I’m not going to give up here.’ I am not doing that.”
What occurred throughout the lawsuit?
Sanderson, a retired optometrist, sued Paltrow for three million dollars.
In a 2019 complaint, he claimed she skied into the back of him, knocking him down and leaving, citing many medical ailments he claimed were caused by the 2016 incident, including four fractured ribs, a concussion, and brain damage, according to NBC News.
This resulted in competing allegations from the pair’s legal teams, with his claiming she skied into his back, while hers claimed the reverse.
After first suing for $3,000,000, Sanderson reduced his complaint to a meager $300,000.
Among the medical issues Sanderson claimed were caused by the collision, his medical history shown in court revealed that 15 of them were documented previous to the occurrence.

Why did she sue him back for one dollar?
Gwyneth Paltrow sued him back for $1, which included legal expenses.
A jury ruled Paltrow not culpable, forcing Sanderson to pay Paltrow $1 in addition to the mountain of legal bills.
This ended up costing Sanderson more than he had originally sued for, with estimations indicating a seven-figure sum he would have to pay Paltrow.
In a statement made after the trial, Paltrow stated, “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity.”
“I am pleased with the outcome, and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and I thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”
Sanderson told the press after the trial that it was ‘absolutely not’ worth suing her.
