Jack Lord, also known as John Joseph Patrick Ryan outside the profession, kept his personal life secret for years, not feeling the need to disclose it. When reporters inquired about his first marriage, he frequently begged them not to discuss it, which they did.
Many people speculated about his first marriage, with some accusing him of ignoring his obligations and others assuming he emphasized his job above his family.

“There is a public life and a private life.” “I’m not willing to pay that price,” he told Jane Ardmore in 1963, as she was writing a story titled “Jack of All Trades or Master of None.”
While nothing is known about his previous marriage, it is known that his son died when he was just 12 years old. The youngster was sick for a little more than two weeks before dying.

His cause of death was reported as hepatitis on his death certificate, and his mother, Ann Willard Ryan, was the sole informant named.
Lord only saw his kid as a newborn once. According to reports, Lord lost track of his family, and his letters to his ex-wife were returned unread. While he was at sea, his wife filed for divorce, and they haven’t spoken since.

Lord found love again after his first marriage ended with Marie DeNarde, a successful fashion designer. When she met Lord, she was already a successful entrepreneur with large real estate assets.
There are various published versions of Lord’s initial meeting with DeNarde. DeNarde presented a realistic testimony during an interview when Lord was just starting out in the profession.

DeNarde had an L-shaped stone mansion in upstate New York as well as an apartment in the city. She got home from work one evening to find a letter from a man offering to buy her house.
The “ridiculously low” price surprised the clothing designer, and he threw the note away. Days later, she began receiving phone calls at her Manhattan residence, which she opted to ignore as well.
She’d later learn that Lord had met DeNarde’s proprietor in the local market and had given him her phone number. Lord appeared to be tenacious in his search for a new home, sending another message with a phone number and a plea for DeNarde to return the call.

Finally, DeNarde relented and allowed her persistent caller to speak. She informed the man that she had seen his original letter and had no intention of accepting his poor offer, especially since she had no plans to sell her property.
Lord stated that he was a sailor and had never written any letters to DeNarde. She then noticed there were two men interested in purchasing her property.
DeNarde felt bad for wasting Lord’s time by failing to respond to his calls. He accepted when she offered to let him inspect the house.

DeNarde was taken aback when she opened the door to greet the Lord. She was taken aback by such a “handsome sight.”
They ended up conversing for five hours that day, and she confessed to being completely charmed by her new sailor pal. She characterized Lord’s appearance as something straight out of a Wonder Bread advertisement, with a big chest and a beautifully lovely face.
Regardless, DeNarde was fifteen years older than Lord. She was already financially secure, thanks to her successful work as a fashion designer.

Lord began wooing her, and he quickly realized he had met his match. He proposed to DeNarde at El Farro’s, a Spanish restaurant in New York’s Greenwich Village.
While Lord waited for DeNarde, he sat at the bar and started up a discussion with actor Jack Elam. When DeNarde arrived, she introduced herself to the actor and mentioned that she was planning a vacation to Spain.
Lord revealed his genuine intentions to DeNarde while they were alone. He told her he was leaving New York to relocate to California and asked if she wanted to join him.

The fashion designer inquired whether the Lord was requesting her hand in marriage. DeNarde joyfully accepted when he claimed he was.
On January 17, 1949, the pair married. They moved into her New York apartment together and lived there for a few years.
Lord and DeNarde elected not to commemorate their wedding anniversary over the years. Instead, they’d commemorate the day they met.

DeNarde committed her life to her spouse after their wedding. Lord’s “Hawaii Five-O” co-stars even joked that she mothered him, describing her as a lovely woman.
Whenever Lord was mentioned in the news, it was always about how committed Lord and DeNarde were to one another. They were frequently seen holding hands, and the Lord extolled his wife’s numerous virtues.
Lord boasted about DeNarde’s cooking abilities, the way she kept their home running, and even her 19-inch waist throughout the years.

He also gave her credit for making him a better guy. She helped him regulate his fury and was the only thing he cared about in the world.
The actor expressed gratitude for how DeNarde altered the path of his life. He would have spent the rest of his life aboard merchant ships if he hadn’t met her.
Instead, he became a successful actor, while DeNarde prioritized her own career. “I think my whole life has been an effort to become the man she thought I was,” he said.

DeNarde was always by Lord’s side throughout his career. He never left the house without her, and his contracts required that accommodations contain room for his wife.
Lord had always had a soft spot for youngsters. When he was among them, he’d reveal his soft side, which not many people saw.
Even his “Hawaii Five-O” co-star Kam Fong remembers how the normally gruff Jack Lord would transform into someone quite different anytime there were youngsters on the set.

While Lord’s passion for children would have made him an excellent parent, he and DeNarde resolved early in their marriage not to have children. This was done so that they could devote all of their focus to Jack’s profession.
They were the ideal couple, and as Jack’s career took off, they explored having children once more. Unfortunately, it never came to pass.
Rather than obsessing over what may have been, the pair focused on Jack’s job. He got his big break on “Hawaii Five-O,” which became an immediate global success with 300 million viewers from 80 different countries.
DeNarde also appeared in the successful program, although in a supporting role. She created outfits for her “Hawaii Five-O” star husband to wear during filming.

At one point in his career, Lord was so well-known that Elvis Presley recognized him in a crowd. During one of Presley’s concerts, he urged Lord to get up so that he might be honored.
When the audience applauded, Presley urged Lord to return to his seat, saying, “You’re getting more applause than I am.” Following the show, Presley posed for photos with Lord and DeNarde.

DeNarde and Lord retired from “Hawaii Five-O” after the show ended in 1980. They engaged in philanthropic activities and focused on leisure activities that provided them joy and relaxation.
They moved away from the spotlight, both physically and metaphorically, leaving people wondering where he had gone. DeNarde and Lord eventually relocated to Hawaii, where they owned a beach house.
The paparazzi only photographed them once throughout the years. They honored his privacy and desire to remain anonymous.
Colleagues from “Hawaii Five-O” noted her intense love for the Lord, noting that even when she couldn’t walk, she’d move towards the door of her husband’s chamber to keep prying eyes out.

Even after retiring, DeNarde remained loyal to the Lord. Colleagues from “Hawaii Five-O” noted her intense love for the Lord, noting that even when she couldn’t walk, she’d move towards the door of her husband’s chamber to keep prying eyes out.
“There was never a happier man,” they claimed of Jack’s final years with his wife. They’d go to the beach together, and he’d scribble poems in the sand for her.
DeNarde and Lord lived their lives fully and without remorse. Lord died of heart failure in 1998, at the age of 77. He died in his Honolulu home, surrounded by his loving wife.

DeNarde made a point of thanking everyone who was a part of her husband’s life in a statement. She also acknowledged the program that altered their lives as well as the Hawaiian islands they learned to adore. She stated:
“Throughout his life, he had the kindness, affection, and support of many fans and friends.” He always remembered and appreciated it.”

Lord’s ashes were scattered in Hawaii’s ocean waves after his death. His co-stars and friends paid tribute to him, as did his wife, who recalled joyful times with Lord, such as the way his eyes shined when he laughed and how he had always liked her cooking.
