After the driver passes out, the seventh-grade hero takes control of the wheel and stops the school bus. On Wednesday, a middle school kid from Michigan named Dillon Reeves was able to halt the school bus when the driver abruptly “lost consciousness.”
After the bus driver passed out behind the wheel, a middle school kid from Michigan was praised as a “little hero” for halting the vehicle.
Superintendent of Warren Consolidated Schools Robert D. Livernois said during a news conference on Thursday that Dillon Reeves, a student at Michigan’s Lois E. Carter Middle School, took control of the bus’ steering and brakes on April 26 in the late afternoon as it was traveling home from school.

According to a Facebook post by Livernois, the bus driver was unwell and passed out while operating the vehicle, but Reeves’ fast thinking and efforts saved the day.
The motorist was looked after by Warren police officers and other relevant personnel who arrived quickly. By putting the children on a different bus to go home, they made sure they were safe.
A Michigan school shared a video showing Dillon getting into the driver’s seat of a school bus and stopping it.

Then, while his classmates yell, “Someone call 911!” Dillon can be seen gripping the steering wheel and applying the brake. Livernois said that the bus began “veering into oncoming traffic” when the driver failed to arrive at the predetermined stop. Dillon, who was five seats away, jumped in at this time and “stopped the bus right in the middle of the road,” the witness said.

Steve and Ireta Reeves, Dillon’s parents, declared that they were “very, very proud” of their son during the news conference.
“Dillon, how did you know what to do? I questioned him. His mother questioned, “How did you know how to drive that bus? He stated, “I watch her do it every day,” demonstrating his keen attention to detail.
