I bought dish sponges with an indicator: what happened to them after two days of use shocked me…

Some manufacturers constantly try to come up with something new to push their products onto us, the consumers. And, to be honest, sometimes they do it quite well!

Curiosity wins, and we buy a product that promises a lot of intriguing things on its packaging.

So, a couple of days ago, I popped into the store for some cleaning supplies, and next to them, I saw something new and couldn’t resist.

Here’s what I got: dishwashing sponges, but not ordinary ones, ones with a replacement indicator.

Thanks to the indicator, you can monitor the sponge’s wear and see when you need to replace it with a new one. Have you encountered such innovation in the world of sponges?

I fell for it and bought dish sponges with an indicator: what happened to them after 2 days of use.

How does the indicator work?

The indicator is located on the sponge’s abrasive side.

The color of the indicator changes depending on the wear of this layer.

Red indicates the sponge is new.
Brown indicates medium wear.
Green means it’s time to replace the sponge with a new one.
And now I want to tell you how the sponges behaved during actual use and whether the indicator really works.

I used the sponges as usual: neither more often nor less.

I want to note that the sponges themselves are good. They have a decent abrasive layer, the sponge is dense, doesn’t deform, and cleans dishes well.

However, I have questions about the indicator!

By the second day of use, the indicator had vanished somewhere.

It didn’t change from red to brown or green; it just vanished! If you follow the instructions, it turns out that the sponges last only a couple of days. I think this is wasteful.”
