My son Ethan believed it was necessary for me to share my story online in order to learn from my error. So, here it is. Ethan and his wife Sarah requested that I babysit their children, Lily and Jack, while they attended a wedding in Mexico. Initially, I was hesitant, as Sarah typically relied on her own mother for such tasks. However, Ethan persuaded me that it was a rare opportunity for them to unwind.

During their absence, I received an invitation to a birthday celebration at Disney World. Viewing it as a wonderful chance to treat Lily and Jack, I did not consult Ethan and Sarah. After all, Sarah often mentioned the idea of taking the kids to Disney “someday.”
Upon Ethan and Sarah’s return, Sarah expressed disappointment. She claimed that I had deprived her of the opportunity to witness Lily and Jack’s inaugural Disney experience. Ethan requested that I offer an apology, but I failed to perceive any wrongdoing on my part. I felt dismayed that they had entrusted me with babysitting duties despite being aware of Sarah’s preference for her mother’s assistance.

Our disagreement escalated, and Ethan believed that sharing our story online might help me recognize my misstep. However, upon reflection, I contemplate whether the issue transcends merely the Disney outing. Perhaps it pertains to comprehending each other’s boundaries and emotions.
I am hopeful that we can resolve our differences, yet I am curious to hear others’ perspectives. Do you believe I was in the wrong?
