I have to raise someone else’s child while her mother is having fun at parties

I fell in love with a pregnant lady and pledged to assist her in raising the child, but she chose to have fun while avoiding her obligations. She abandoned me, only to return years later to commit horrific acts.

I met Molly in college. She was the most gorgeous girl I’d ever seen, yet she never acknowledged me. Molly would frequently hang out with the most popular males, mainly from the school’s football team, but we became close friends.

She was cheery and an excellent student. It was wonderful to have a buddy like him, even if my sentiments were constantly unrequited. Eventually, she began dating Tanner, the team’s captain. He wasn’t the average harsh jock, but I always believed she could do better.

A few months later, Molly came to my house in tears. Tanner had dumped her and began dating another female almost immediately. I consoled her as best I could, but she had truly loved him. About a month later, she learned something life-changing.

“Mark, I’m pregnant,” she informed me.

“What?” I exhaled. I could not believe it. “Did you tell Tanner already?”

“Yes. He does not want anything to do with the baby. “He told me to get rid of it because he’s not going to be a father anymore,” Molly said.

“What an idiot!” I can’t believe he’d avoid his obligations like that! “What are you planning to do?” I questioned.

“I do not know. I don’t want to get rid of it, but I’m in college. I cannot be a single mother. She sobbed, “My parents are going to kill me.”

“I will step forward. We can marry, and I will assist you in raising the baby.” You will not be alone,” I stated without thinking twice.

“I cannot ask you to do that. I apologize, Mark. But I don’t believe I’ll ever feel that way about you,” Molly admitted sheepishly.

“Do not worry. It is not about that. We’ll marry so that no one looks down on you and you don’t have to be a single mother,” I said. Even I thought it was ridiculous, but I couldn’t leave Molly to deal with it alone.

“Are you sure? That’s a lot to expect of a buddy,” Molly said quietly, still unsure about this ridiculous concept. I persuaded her that I was serious, and we headed down to the courts later that week. Two of our pals testified, and it was a brief event.

I did my best to assist Molly in getting through her pregnancy. It was challenging because we were both college students, but we would figure it out. Every day, I got more eager about being a father.

Molly, on the other hand, was not very enthused. I could see she missed being able to hang out with her pals and experience normal college life. However, as a mother, she had to make significant sacrifices. When Amelia finally arrived, she was the world’s most beautiful baby.

I immediately adored her and became her father. Molly adored Amelia and adjusted to motherhood better than I had anticipated. We formed a great little family, and no one guessed Amelia was not mine since she looked identical to her mother.

However, Molly’s excitement waned. Molly had a breakdown after putting Amelia to bed when she was five. “I can’t do it anymore. “I lost everything,” she wailed.

“What are you talking about?” I asked her.

“I’ve lost my entire youth. “I should not have had a child at all!” Molly continued.

“Molly, please.” Amelia could hear you. “She is in the next room!” I remarked, increasing my voice slightly.

“I do not care. I want to get out of this.” She shockingly announced, “I’m filing for divorce, and I don’t want to see any of you again.” I implored her to pause and consider this, but Molly had already packed her things and left us forever.

I hurried to Amelia’s room, only to learn that our daughter had heard the entire disturbance. “Mommy left?” she sobbed.

“Baby, your mommy is going through something right now and requires some time away. “She’ll be back soon,” I told her.

Unfortunately, Molly did not return, so I became a single father. It was worse than I had anticipated, and Amelia cried virtually every night for a year following. But eventually, we both became accustomed to being alone. My baby was the light of my life, and I would do everything to see us through.

Molly did not call once but frequently updated her social media accounts. She now got the collegiate life she had been missing all along. It was one party after another with her former college sorority buddies. I felt terrible viewing those photographs.

How could she leave her child to go out and have fun? It was unforgivable. Several years after her desertion, I discovered that she and Tanner had rekindled their relationship, which made matters worse. This was the person who deserted her when she was most vulnerable and refused to stand up for his baby.

I couldn’t do anything but go on, but Molly decided to return to our lives just as things were going so well. “What do you mean you want Amelia back?” I inquired about Molly’s surprise visit to my home.

“Amelia is my daughter, and I want her to live with us. Tanner is finally prepared to meet her. “She’s her father,” she stated casually.

“Tanner isn’t her father. I am her father.” I raised her all these years, especially since you abandoned her,” I stated with contempt in my voice.

“Mark, do not do this. If necessary, I will take you to court to seek custody. That is my child. Tanner and I have recently announced our engagement. She’ll be overjoyed to finally be with her actual family,” Molly said.

“I’ll see you in court then,” I said, throwing Molly out of my house. Amelia, who was practically a teenager at the time, noticed how frightened I was. My lawyers recommended that I settle the matter outside of court because most judges favor the mother.

But how could a judge support Molly after her abandonment? My name was on Amelia’s birth certificate, and I saw her grow up. I was her sole parent. Molly’s lawyers were ferocious, and our struggle was difficult. However, Amelia’s testimony proved to be decisive.

“I only have one father,” she explained, pointing at me. “My mother departed many years ago, claiming she regretted me. “I do not want to live with her.”

Fortunately, the court listened to my small kid, something my attorneys did not expect. He granted me full custody, while Molly had weekend visits. I pushed Amelia to forgive her mother and develop a connection with her, and they did.

But she assured me every day that I was the finest parent someone could possibly have.
