Jonathan stood up and resolved to set an example for his kid. He had always wanted to purchase a lunch for a soldier out of deep respect, and now he had the opportunity. He was going to buy one lunch, but he changed his mind and bought meals for all the soldiers in the restaurant. He knew he couldn’t simply stop with one.
Jonathan says, “What I felt going through my heart was that I didn’t care if another 200 people showed up. I was still planning to buy the lunch.”

And it appeared like he was purchasing meals for the entire platoon. Stephen, Jonathan’s elder brother, took some photos of him with the troops, who expressed gratitude for his kindness. Stephen was extremely proud of Jonathan.
However, Jonathan had another reason for wanting to buy the troops’ lunches. Stephen’s Facebook photos show him asking diners to help anyone they know with PTSD as he paid for their meals in memory of his brother Joshua, who had severe PTSD. We thanked them and left. We taught our boys to care for those who care for us.
Stephen urged his readers to share his post so that more people could see how PTSD can harm those who serve our country.
