In the wake of OJ Simpson’s passing, people are reflecting on the lives of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman

The public is commemorating Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman following the news of OJ Simpson’s passing.

The former NFL player, Simpson, passed away yesterday (April 10), as announced by his family in a statement released today (April 11).

Simpson achieved acclaim as one of the NFL’s greatest running backs, but in 1994, he became a suspect in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman.

The two were tragically murdered outside Nicole’s California home, leading to police announcing their intent to arrest Simpson a few days later. Simpson, who was married to Nicole from 1985 to 1992, gained widespread attention as he was filmed fleeing from the police in his white Ford Bronco, eventually surrendering.

Dubbed ‘the trial of the century,’ Simpson’s court appearance saw prosecutors present a multitude of evidence, including blood, hair, and fibers from Simpson’s car, as well as bloody shoe prints found at the crime scene. Simpson’s defense contended that he was framed.

The trial lasted 11 months, from November 1994 to October 1995. After just three hours of deliberation, Simpson was acquitted, leaving the murders unsolved.

In the wake of Simpson’s recent passing, many internet users have taken to X to honor Nicole and Goldman, expressing condolences and sharing memories.

“Sending peace and light to the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson,” one individual wrote, while another posted pictures of Nicole and Goldman, urging others to remember them.

“Rest in peace, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson!” another commenter remarked.

Following the criminal trial verdict, Nicole and Goldman’s families pursued a civil suit against Simpson, resulting in a finding of liability for their deaths and an order to pay $33.5 million in damages.
