Our intuitive sense is one of the most enigmatic characteristics of being human. This “sixth sense” cannot be seen or measured, yet many individuals have had some experience with it. It may come from a strong feeling that something is wrong or that we or someone else should or shouldn’t do something. It might be difficult to interpret—not every sensation we get is genuinely our intuition—but there are several examples of people who trusted their instincts and were pleased they did.
One such story became popular on TikTok. Jessica Higgs, a mother who works as an Instacart grocery delivery driver, uploaded an emotional video in which she demonstrates the value of listening to your inner voice when it leads you to check on someone.
“I just want to start this off by saying if you see something, say something,” Higgs told the crowd.

She added that the previous day, she had placed an Instacart order for a daughter who was purchasing for her older father, who was unable to buy for himself. She expressed her commitment to providing exceptional service to her clients, noting that the daughter had given her instructions to simply place the food on the porch for her father to pick up. That’s what Higgs would normally do.
“I got there, and something was telling me no, you have to help this man out,” she recalled. “He came out, and I said, ‘Okay, let me assist you,’ and I got the groceries. You’re not supposed to go inside someone’s house, but I exercised my discretion and carried the goods inside and placed them wherever he asked. You aren’t supposed to, but I did. And you’re meant to snap a photo and go, but I couldn’t simply leave.”
Higgs noted that the man appeared to be in poor health and became really concerned. A voice in her thoughts urged, “You need to say something.” You have to say something, Jess.” Rather than marking the purchase as complete, she messaged the man’s daughter, explaining that it was quite inappropriate to say anything like this, but she believed her father was not doing well. “There’s a propane tank in there,” she informed the woman. “I went about five feet in and became dizzy. There has to be a leak. He might not be performing well because of this leak.”
The woman said she’d send her son over to investigate, and Higgs departed. The woman increased her gratuity from $14 to $100, which Higgs appreciated, but the note she received the next morning was an even better reward for going the additional mile.
“Thank you so much; once my son went to check on my dad, it turned out it was definitely leaking,” she commented. “You definitely saved my dad’s and my younger son’s lives!!!”

Higgs, through tears, stated, “I’m only an Instacart employee; if you see something, say something. I did, and I’m quite glad I did.
Higgs’ TikTok has been watched over 15 million times and widely shared on social media. It has also caught the interest of large corporations.
Royal Caribbean Cruises posted a TikTok video thanking Higgs for her courageous gesture and offered her and her family a seven-day trip anywhere in the globe. “Because even heroes need a vacation,” the business stated.
Old Navy contacted her and planned a shopping trip in which she was able to model many new clothes. People Magazine said, “You’re really a hero!” Good job trusting your instincts. 💕” TikTok said, “You are amazing ❤️. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.”
Many commenters also noted that she is not “just an Instacart worker.” Her labor is vital; she is delivering a much-needed service, and any task done in the spirit of assisting others should not be overlooked. If she hadn’t been performing her job well, that man may not be here. Never underestimate the impact that any of us may have by just looking out for one another, both friends and strangers.
Higgs’ heartbreaking tale moved millions, and she deserves to be honored for following her heart and going out of her way to help someone. I adore watching wonderful things happen to individuals who do good. Well done, Jessica Higgs.
