Jamie Spears, Britney Spears’ father, had his leg amputated around a month ago, according to several reports.
According to reports, Jamie, 71, spent weeks in the hospital due to a bacterial infection in one of his legs.
Jamie’s representative did not immediately reply to a request for comments from PEOPLE.

Jamie was hospitalized earlier this year with a bacterial illness, as PEOPLE previously revealed in October.
PEOPLE confirmed at the time that the father of three was recovering at an infectious disease outpatient clinic.
Jamie became “seriously ill” in November 2018 and was transported to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where his colon “spontaneously ruptured.”
Jamie needed emergency surgery and was hospitalized for 28 days, according to a statement from Britney’s team received by PEOPLE at the time.

“After a long, complicated post-operative period, he is recuperating at home, gaining strength, and is expected to make a full recovery,” according to the statement.
“I am devoting my focus and energy to caring for my family,” Britney, 42, said at the time. “We have a very special relationship, and I want to be with my family at this time, just like they have always been there for me.”
Two months later, the singer opened up about her father’s condition on social media.
In a since-deleted post on X (previously known as Twitter), the artist said that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus from work and postponing her Domination residency in Las Vegas due to her father’s health concerns.

“It’s critical to constantly prioritize your family… “And that’s what I had to decide,” she said in a January 2019 piece. “My father was hospitalized and nearly died a few months ago.” We’re all glad that he survived, but he still has a long journey ahead of him.”
Jamie also has a daughter, Jamie Lynn, 32, and a son, Bryan, 46, with his ex-wife, Lynne, 68.
Britney’s connection with her family has been strained since she was placed under conservatorship in 2008. Her father was removed as Britney’s estate conservator two months before the conservatorship ended in November 2021.
According to PEOPLE, Britney celebrated her 42nd birthday on Saturday by throwing a party in Los Angeles with her mother and brother.
“Being together and celebrating her birthday was a really nice moment for the family,” a person familiar with the matter said.
Another insider told PEOPLE exclusively that Lynne is “really making an effort to be in Britney’s life.”
“Britney enjoys spending time with her,” the source continued. “They have a complicated relationship, but it seems they both need each other.”
