A well-liked custodian, who had to travel miles to and from work, was always cheerful and brought joy to his school. But when his colleagues summoned him into the library, he fell to his knees in tears.

A 30-minute commute to work may be too much trouble for some individuals to bear. But Robert Reed, a popular 60-year-old janitor at a Tennessee school, will go any distance to help the pupils and instructors he cares about.

According to Reed, “Let’s say I get off at 3 p.m.,” WMC Action News 5 said. “I then return home at 7 o’clock. At Millbranch and Winchester, I reside.

Every day, Reed commutes to and from Farmington Elementary School in Germantown by taking many buses and then walking the remaining distance. The devoted worker refuses to choose a job closer to home since the faculty is like “family” to him, despite the fact that he has no car of his own. He, therefore, makes the daily transfer, occasionally depending on the generosity of others if they extend it.

He answered, “I have to walk two miles and take three buses.” All of the instructors drove me to the bus stop. Even though I had none, they still handed me money. I’m telling you, this is a family in Farmington.

Of course, the institution has a similar opinion of Reed. WREG stated that despite only being there for four months, the upbeat janitor has improved the school’s climate overall. Because of this, everyone in the classroom agreed that something needed to be done to assist their dearly appreciated janitor.

“No job is too big or too small,” Reed declared. “I want to create a secure, hygienic environment for the visitors and the students.”

One of the staff members called Reed into the school library while he was working his usual shift. He hurried to the room because he believed there was a mess that needed to be cleaned up. But when he entered and discovered that every instructor was waiting for him, he was a little perplexed.

Reed was unaware of the reason his employees had summoned him there until teacher Elizabeth Malone revealed it to him. He was shocked to learn that she and her coworkers had organized a fundraiser to buy him a car so he wouldn’t have to walk to and from work.

“We started a GoFundMe for you 21 hours ago,” said Malone. Additionally, we have $7000 to help you purchase a new truck.

Reed was overcome with emotion and fell on his knees, clinging to Malone’s waist as he sobbed. Malone gave him a heartfelt embrace and said, “You deserve it.”

“We want our kids to pick up on that,” she said, “not only to have a good work ethic, but also to have a good work ethic, and if you see someone in need, try to help.” “His work ethic is unbelievable,” she added. It’s crucial to carry it through.

Although a good used pickup truck was to be purchased with the money, the objective of $10,000 was rapidly reached. Donors collected more than $49,000 for Reed at the end of the fundraising, guaranteeing that he will have the vehicle he deserves.

In order to boost his income and avoid having to ask for assistance from his employees, Reed has always wanted to launch a lawn care service. Of course, without a vehicle, this was an impossibility. He is currently very close to obtaining complete independence.

Robert Reed is even more grateful for Farmington’s hiring him and for his coworkers’ kindness. Even yet, he acknowledges that he would have kept taking buses and walking farther distances only to continue working with people who reciprocate his love and respect.

Everyone would be happy to work under Reed because of his strong work ethic and upbeat outlook. We can only hope that his new business will be as prosperous as his position at the school, since he deserves every penny that was raised for him.
