Jennifer Garner honors Ben Affleck on Father’s Day with a never-before-seen picture of him cuddling one of their children

Jennifer Garner expresses her admiration for Ben Affleck.

On Father’s Day, June 15, the actress, 53, paid tribute to her ex-husband on Instagram Stories, sharing a throwback snapshot of Affleck, 52, lying on a sofa with one of their three children, a newborn resting sweetly on his chest.

“Happy Father’s Day to 3 people’s favorite landing spot,” Garner captioned the photo.

Garner and Affleck have been coparenting their three children, Violet (19), Seraphina (16), and Samuel (13), since their divorce in 2018.

In the years following their separation, the couple has continued to speak positively of each other.

“I’m really lucky that I have an excellent co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great, and we work together well,” Affleck said to GQ in April.

He said he and Garner used to talk to their kids when they were in the news.

“They would see something on a supermarket stand, and we would say, ‘Well, you know, this isn’t always true, because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant,'” Affleck remarked.

“I understand what’s going on in my life, and, more importantly, my children are aware,” he continued.

Garner and Affleck met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2002 and co-starred in 2003’s Daredevil, but it wasn’t until 2004 that they made their first public appearance as a couple, at a Boston Red Sox World Series game.

They married privately a year later in the Turks and Caicos and revealed in June 2005 that they were expecting their first child.

In June 2015, only days after their tenth wedding anniversary, the couple announced their divorce. The couple finalized their divorce in October 2018.

“Having children with someone permanently connects you to them,” Affleck told PEOPLE in 2020. “And I am really fortunate that she is the mother of my children. I am quite appreciative and respectful of her. Our marriage did not work, and that is difficult. Both of us feel that children must see their parents respect and get along, whether they are together or not.

Before commemorating the Batman actor on Father’s Day, Garner posted a video on Instagram Stories devoted to her father, the late William John Garner, showing them joyously going outside with their hands in their pockets.

“Being fathered by someone who loves being a dad is a gift; my sisters and I know this, and (lucky for us) all of our kids do, too,” she said. “Happy Father’s Day to all dads, uncles, grandfathers, and father figures. We love you.”

William died in 2024, at the age of 85.
