Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck

More than two years after their long-awaited wedding, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have called it quits again.

Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to court records. According to a source close to Lopez, the pair did not sign a prenuptial agreement.

TMZ was the first to report on the divorce petition.

The lifelong lovers married in July 2022, after rekindling their relationship the previous year.

Lopez and Affleck were engaged in the early 2000s, but they split up before getting married and spent the next 17 years apart.

Lopez was married to artist Marc Anthony from 2004 until 2014, with whom she has two children, and she got engaged to New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez in 2019 before their split in 2021.

Lopez has been married four times.

Affleck was married to actor Jennifer Garner from 2005 till 2018. They have three children together.

According to Vulture, Lopez and Affleck met on the set of “Gigli” in 2002, and they became engaged in November of that year.

Two years later, in 2004, Lopez announced their separation.

Despite Lopez and Rodriguez’s 2021 breakup, frequent pictures of her with Affleck fueled rumors that they had rekindled their romance.

Lopez revealed in April 2022 that she and Affleck were once again engaged, 20 years after their original proposal. They married on July 16, 2022, and received a marriage license from Clark County, Nevada, according to court documents.

The couple married in Las Vegas and came to the chapel just before midnight to line up with four other couples, according to Lopez’s fan newsletter, J Lo, which announced the news shortly after the wedding.

“We did it,” the report stated. “Behind us, two men linked hands and embraced each other. In front of us is a young couple who drove three hours from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday, all of us seeking the same thing: for the world to accept us as partners and to announce our love to the world via the old and practically global symbol of marriage.”

The couple said, “It was the best wedding we could have imagined.” It was a wedding we had long envisioned and one that came to pass.

Rumors began to circulate in May that the pair was on the rocks, with tabloids reporting that they hadn’t been seen together in weeks and that Affleck had moved out of their house, which was then placed up for sale, before moving into his own, according to sources.
