‘Jeopardy!’ fans were disappointed, as all 3 finalists were stumped by this prayer question

Jeopardy! is the most popular game show on TV. The most bright and educated players respond to questions based on hints that most typical home viewers struggle to grasp.

To the surprise of many Christians, all three participants in a recent episode were baffled by a seemingly simple clue regarding the Lord’s Prayer.

On June 13, host Mayim Bialik read the $200 clue in the “Dadjectives” category, the lowest and typically simplest sum on the board.

“This ‘Be Thy Name,’ Our Father Who Art in Heaven,” states Matthew 6:9.

The response is “hallowed” (or, more precisely, “what is hallowed,” according to Jeopardy! regulations), which should sound familiar to anybody who studied the Lord’s Prayer in Sunday school.

Even seemingly simple Jeopardy answers! Participants were occasionally confused, but no one could understand one of the most famous Christian prayers, which moved the devout.

“On Jeopardy last night, nobody recognized the solution to this.”Are you awake yet?” someone inquired on Twitter.

Growing up, memorizing the Lord’s Prayer was like learning the Pledge of Allegiance. “You simply did,” says one tweet.

Another said, “Even if it isn’t a sign of the end of the world, it says a lot about Americans and their faith—or lack thereof.

While some viewers saw it as a sign of waning US confidence, others were just surprised that such a plain message went ignored.

One Twitter user wrote, “I’m an atheist, and even I knew the answer to that Lord’s Prayer question.”

“My 4-year-old niece properly answered the Jeopardy question! I was only interested in whether the contestants had never heard of the Lord’s Prayer. Someone else wrote.

“How are they in danger?” The nerds don’t know the answer. Do they not know who Iron Maiden is? Another person joked regarding the Iron Maiden song “Hallowed Be Thy Name.”

A fairly simple question appeared to baffle every participant, surprising some observers who expected others to be more collected. Two of the candidates may have chosen to play it safe rather than risk falling farther behind due to their poor scores.

It’s also important to realize that Jeopardy! routinely asks questions concerning Christianity and the Bible, and players frequently get accurate answers to problems that would be difficult for even the most committed churchgoer. Some have argued that the show asks too many questions about Christianity because it is such a popular topic.

Furthermore, Jeopardy! welcomes competitors from a variety of backgrounds and religious beliefs; it’s likely that these three contestants did not grow up in a predominantly Christian household, unlike many viewers.

The Final Jeopardy answer was: “He starred in the two films whose soundtracks were the top two bestselling albums of 1978.” Even though the participants were unable to grasp the Lord’s Prayer, they did slightly better when it came to 1970s films.

What is the correct response? The soundtracks of Saturday Night Fever and Grease feature John Travolta. With this victory, Suresh Krishnan’s winning streak has reached six games.
