Famous podcaster Joe Rogan recently spoke off on “The View,” labeling the panel of mostly lefty co-hosts a “rabies-infested henhouse” during a chat with novelist Coleman Hughes. Co-host Sunny Hosting mocked Hughes for his views on modern racial relations during the program, calling him a “charlatan” and a “pawn” for his beliefs.
Hughes published a book earlier this year titled “The End of Race Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America,” which makes it clear that he opposes current ideologies such as Critical Race Theory and other left-wing political obsessions that group people based on immutable characteristics.
Hughes believes that we should treat individuals “without regard for race,” but rather based on their socioeconomic condition, to address inequities in American culture. However, Hostin disagreed with the author’s premise, stating that his work is “fundamentally flawed” and that the right has “co-opted” his goal for colorblind treatment of Americans.
“Many in the black community, if I’m being honest with you, because I want to be, believe that you are being used as a pawn by the right and that you’re a charlatan of sorts,” Hostin said to Hughes during the interview. Hughes calmly argued with the claim, denying that Hostin implied he was a “pawn” for conservatives.
Hughes asserts, “I don’t think there’s any evidence that anyone has co-opted me, and I think that’s an ad-hominem tactic people use to not really address the important conversations we’re having here.”
“Well, it is the show that people love to hate,” the 56-year-old podcaster stated when Hughes informed him of the amount of attention he has received from those who support him since the piece aired. Following his appearance on “The View,” Hughes spoke with Joe Rogan about the subject.
Rogan did not hold back in expressing his dislike for “The View,” claiming that the show’s co-hosts say “ridiculous things.” Hughes told Rogan that he “didn’t know who Sunny Hostin was before going on ‘The View,’ and he had no idea what to expect.” He said that he did not expect the panel to “ambush” him.
Hughes said on the television show “The Joe Rogan Experience,” It was unexpected for her to try to ambush me and attack my character, so I reacted as I did. I didn’t expect it to go as viral as it did, but I think it arguably went more popular than anything I’ve ever done.” He further alleged that Hostin approached the interview with an “agenda.”
“Well, their audience is not really their audience,” Rogan observed when commenting on the midday talk program. “Their audience is a group of people they bring in to watch television shows.” During a conversation about “The View,” Rogan stated, “They receive a lot of hate-watching and viral clips of them saying ridiculous things; it’s like a rabies-infested henhouse.”
