Kate Middleton and Prince William are feeling the love on Valentine’s Day!
On Friday, February 14, the Prince and Princess of Wales unusually commemorated the occasion by uploading a photo of themselves having a romantic PDA moment on social media.
The photo’s description included a single red love heart emoji. It was initially shared by the royal couple in September 2024 as part of an emotional film marking Kate, 43, ‘s completion of chemotherapy treatment following her cancer diagnosis earlier that year.
The adorable photo shows the couple holding hands as William, 42, kisses Kate on the cheek while she giggles. The couple, sitting on a brown picnic blanket, appeared to have taken the photo in a forested location.

Will Warr recorded the three-minute footage in August in Norfolk, where Kate and William live in their country residence, Anmer Hall, with their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
Over the past year, Kate and William have been increasingly open about their public demonstrations of devotion on social media. In a June 2024 social media post commemorating William’s birthday, Kate said, “We all love you so much!” William then returned on Jan. 9 last month, sending Kate a handwritten birthday note on her 43rd birthday. “To the most amazing wife and mother. You’ve demonstrated incredible strength throughout the past year. George, Charlotte, Louis, and I are extremely proud of you… He wrote, “We love you.”
William must be so lucky that Kate survived that he wants to share their love. It demonstrates the intimacy of their sharing that trip,” royal historian Ingrid Seward told PEOPLE of their PDAs. “They can express themselves in a way they would never have done before.”

Their current public demonstrations of affection stand in stark contrast to previous years, when the Prince and Princess of Wales were more reserved in their public encounters. Myka Meier, a royal etiquette expert and the founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, recently told PEOPLE, “There is no actual etiquette or royal protocol that says the couple must refrain from PDA.” The couple’s restraint is most likely due to their roles as “working representatives of the British monarchy,” according to Meier.
The prince has been a continuous supporter of his wife over the last year, and Kate’s tough experience has only cemented their love.
A source close to the royal family told PEOPLE last month that the royal pair is now “more open” and “talks about their relationship together.”

“The princess prioritizes family—her husband and children—over everything else,” a close royal insider told PEOPLE.
Kate and William, who have been dating for almost 20 years, got married in April 2011.
After eight years of dating, William proposed while on holiday in Kenya with friends. The royal couple announced the news to the public a few weeks later, in November 2010.
