Keke Palmer is the first woman in fifteen years to win an Emmy for Best Game Show Host on Password

Keke Palmer has made history by winning an Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards for NBC’s Password. At the age of 30, she is the first woman in 15 years to achieve this honor.

The ceremony, which took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown L.A., witnessed Palmer, adorned in a brown halterneck gown, expressing her excitement and gratitude. She extended thanks to Jimmy Fallon and NBC, while Fallon, aged 49, reciprocated by praising Palmer for being sharp, charming, and quick-witted.

This marked the initial inclusion of the category in the Primetime Emmys, transitioning from the Daytime awards, and Palmer stands out as the first black woman to win or be nominated in this category. Palmer, announced as the new host of Password alongside Jimmy Fallon, shared her joy on Instagram, recognizing Fallon’s support and expressing gratitude for being part of such a classic game show.

The Emmy award was secured over fellow nominees Steve Harvey (Family Feud), Ken Jennings, and Mayim Bialik (Jeopardy!), and Pat Sajak (Wheel of Fortune). The last woman to win in this category was Meredith Vieira in 2009. The recent nomination of Password after 50 years, following Allen Ludden’s initial win in 1974 at the Daytime Emmy Awards, adds significance to Palmer’s accomplishment. Following a holiday edition of the show featuring celebrity contestants Meghan Trainor and Jon Cryer in December, Password has been renewed for a second season.
