The talk show host called it the “greatest decision ever,” adding that she “wouldn’t have made it” without Lexapro’s assistance.
Kelly Clarkson said for the first time that she used antidepressants to get through her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
During a therapy session, the 41-year-old presenter of The Kelly Clarkson Show admitted to having difficulties controlling her tears.
“I looked at my therapist and just couldn’t stop crying, and I said, ‘I had to cancel some of the other days because I couldn’t stop crying,'” she said.

Clarkson stated, “I cannot do this,” on an episode of Las Culturistas from iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network that aired on Wednesday. And it was one of those occasions where I had to swallow my ego and set aside any problems from my childhood.”
Clarkson told Rogers and Yang, “I was on Lexapro for two months, I think.” “My problem was that I couldn’t smile for America right now.” I’m dissatisfied and require assistance. And, in God’s honest judgment, that was the finest decision ever taken. I would not have succeeded without it.”

Clarkson, 46, married Blackstock in 2013. After the “Breakaway” singer filed for divorce in 2020, the divorce was formally completed in March 2022. The couple’s children are River Rose, 9, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7. Chemistry, her latest album, is mostly inspired by their romance.
Clarkson stated in a recent podcast interview that her children mostly listen to her music, which allows them to use vulgarity.
“I don’t listen to my stuff around my kids,” Clarkson stated, according to Audacy Check-In podcast host Mike Adam. “So, even with my other music, I assume they were listening to it with someone else because when my daughter requested “Whole Lotta Woman,” I was perplexed as to how she knew the song.”
She, on the other hand, really wanted to say ‘a-.’ ‘May I sing ‘a-?’ she inquired. I said, “Only with me.” “I was like, ‘You can’t do this anywhere else,'” Clarkson continued. So they don’t jam to me; instead, we listen to a lot of Harry Styles and Aurora,” she explained.

Clarkson came on TODAY before the release of Chemistry and highlighted the “little text exchange” she had with Blackstock about the album.
“I don’t even remember how or why it happened, but I was like, ‘Hey, I didn’t just diminish us down to one thing,'” she remembered. “Do you get what I’m saying?” Everything is included in the ride. There is also beauty to be found there. Right now, there is a lot of suffering, but everyone has pain.”
“It’s extremely intimate.” And I’ve always published personal songs; I believe everyone is aware of my overall reputation as a writer of that caliber. I feel that having children—and both of you have children—makes you wonder, ‘What am I going to do here?'” As a result, I was quite particular about the songs I picked for the CD.”
