Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are superstars in their own right, and we might be forgiven for forgetting they’ve been married for nearly 30 years.
Kyra was only 12 years old when she first met Kevin, who was seven years her senior. She had gone to see a movie with her brother that starred Bacon and then met him afterwards.

They didn’t meet paths again until a decade later, on the set of Lemon Sky. Kyra admitted that Bacon was not exactly her type.
“He was absolutely not my type. In fact, I recall glancing at his buttocks as he walked away after our first meeting and thought, “Well, I guess some girls like that,” Kyra told Wide Open Country.
But she changed her mind, and the couple married the next year, in 1988.
The pair married in a private ceremony in Connecticut and celebrated with 300 guests at the Manhattan hotspot Au Bar. Kevin and Kyra, who got engaged on Christmas Eve in 1987, only invited close friends and family to their celebration.

Travis Sedgwick Bacon, their first child, was born shortly after their wedding. Their other child, Sosie Ruth, was born in 1992.
Sosie has followed in her parents’ footsteps by playing Skye Miller in the Netflix adolescent drama “13 Reasons Why.” Travis works as a solo musician and wrote the music for his parents’ film “Story of a Girl.”

34 years later, the couple is celebrating their anniversary and couldn’t be happier. The Bacons’ decades-long marriage is considered a miracle in Hollywood.
“If someone had told me that at 22 I was going to meet the man I was going to marry and at 23 I would marry him and have a child, I would have told them they were out of their mind,” Kyra told the magazine Redbook in 2008.
Bacon is definitely still in love with his famous wife, and he consistently remembers to mark their wedding anniversary. In fact, Kevin and Kyra frequently share confessions of love on their Instagram profiles.

But their relationship has not always been simple.
“When I was at my lowest point, I met my wife, had our children, and things were going well. And I was able to continue supporting myself, which gave me strength,” Bacon told reporters.
The pair did concede that it hasn’t always been easy, recalling how their life savings were stolen in 2008 when Bernie Madoff perpetrated what was dubbed the greatest Ponzi scam in history.
According to some accounts, Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick lost $100 million; however, Celebrity Net Worth maintains they lost “only” $30-40 million.

But they withstood the storm since they both had employment, and despite losing millions, they did not lose everything.
“It was a difficult day,” Bacon told The Guardian, adding, “But relatively quickly we were able to appreciate all the things we had rather than what we lost, and those are the biggest clichés: children, health, love, a wonderful house. So we made it through it together. I don’t think about Madoff at all.
Kyra found during her appearance on the American television show “Finding Your Roots” that she and Bacon are ninth cousins, once removed.
A DNA test indicated that the actor and actress were distant relatives, which may give you a strange sensation, and Kevin was not pleased.
Kyra stated, “She knew it,” but that it was “a little unsettling.” However, she clarified that she was fine with the disclosure as long as they were not first cousins.

When PBS explored Kevin’s family history, they learned that King Edward I, who battled William Wallace, was his 22nd great-grandfather. Kevin joked that his heritage didn’t get enough attention, and he said that he and his wife were first cousins.
“I kind of felt like it was a joke at my expense, you know,” he told me.
Despite the stunning finding, Kevin and Kyra clearly continued on, and their love grew stronger with each year.

They just got the opportunity to spend even more time together while quarantined at their Los Angeles home.
“I’m doing a little writing, even though I truly don’t have any sense of whether or not I’m any good at it at all,” Kyra told the magazine People.
“It’s really about finding something to do. Certainly, I don’t spend time with my spouse reading Shakespeare, but we do watch a lot of movies and read. We continue to read things. I continue to read. I’m definitely trying to incorporate it into my work on a regular basis.”

Kyra also confesses that regardless of where they are, her spouse always makes her feel special.
“I don’t know how he does it, but he always makes me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the room—the only girl in the room,” Kyra told the media outlet People.
She also acknowledges their remarkable chemistry in the bedroom.
“Sex is really vital. “That desire is there,” Sedgwick told Redbook in 2012.

In a 2015 Entertainment Weekly interview, Bacon offered the following advice on how to stay married: “Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities ‘ advice on how to stay married.”
In 2012, Sedgwick told Good Housekeeping about her favorite aspects of her devoted hubby.
“He is really respectable. He is so ethically correct. He has strong moral values; he does not lie or cheat, and I find it attractive!” she said. “I am constantly in awe of Kevin’s levelheadedness and his lack of ‘craziness.'”
