Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid to make a strong fashion statement.

Many of her most memorable moments have occurred on the white carpet of New York’s annual Met Gala, where she has previously donned designs ranging from Marilyn Monroe’s gown to a head-to-toe black morph suit by Balenciaga.

However, when Kim made her Met Gala debut as ex-husband Kanye West’s plus-one ten years ago, her gown ruffled a few feathers—and not in a good way.

She was pregnant with their first child, North West, at the time and wore a Givenchy high-neck floral print gown.

While she enjoyed it, others did not.

Kim was seen prepping for the 2023 Met Gala on the most recent episode of The Kardashians, when she brought 10-year-old North with her to evaluate her outfit (and prior ones).

“I really don’t like that one,” North remarked of her mother’s flowery suit from 2013.

“Nobody liked that one,” Scott Disick said, but Kim insisted that she “loved it.”

People online, including Jumanji actor Robin Williams, made multiple comments on her colorful appearance at the time.

The late Robin shared a photo of Kim on the night alongside a photo of his character Mrs. Doubtfire wearing a similar flowery dress on what was then Twitter, writing, “I think I wore it better!”

Kim, 43, admitted to crying at the moment as she reflected on his statements.

“I cried when Robin Williams roasted me and posted who wore it better—me and Mrs. Doubtfire,” she was quoted as saying.

North didn’t just criticize her mother’s 2013 Met Gala ensemble; she also slammed her mother’s attire for this year’s Met Gala.

Kim wore a pearl costume with a skin-colored bodice to the event.

“There are way too many gaps in the pearls,” Kim’s eldest daughter complained during a fitting with Schiaparelli design director Daniel Roseberry. Her torn clothing makes her appear like a Hawaiian girl.”

She also said that the pearls seemed to be fake, but Kim assured her that they were very costly, genuine pearls.

“I think you need a lesson in pearls,” the Skims founder, 43, added.

“We’re not going for flapper girl; we’re going for vintage, authentic pearly girly.”

Kim also mentioned in the show that North has been fairly vicious with her statements and that she’s trying to teach her to still tell the truth but to be gentler with how she says it.
