Jonathan Joss died at the age of 59.
Authorities reported that they shot and killed the King of the Hill voice actor on Sunday, June 1, in San Antonio, Texas. Police responded to a gunshot at about 7 p.m. and discovered Joss “near the roadway.”
Despite taking “life-saving measures” while waiting for EMS, paramedics came and pronounced Joss dead on the site.
Officers swiftly apprehended and arrested 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, who had fled the scene in a car. PEOPLE can confirm that the suspect is Joss’ neighbor. He has now been charged with murder, and the investigation is still underway, according to police.

TMZ was the first to disclose the news.
Joss was most known for his voice role as John Redcorn on King of the Hill, which aired in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In season three, he replaced the original actor, Victor Arron, who died in a vehicle accident in 1996.
Joss was scheduled to return to the recently announced resurrection of the hit animated sitcom, which will launch on Hulu in August and has already begun recording.
Last week, Joss attended the ATX TV Festival, where he watched his co-stars Pamela Adlon (Bobby Hill), Lauren Tom (Kahn “Connie” Souphanousinphone Jr.), Toby Huss (Cotton Hill, Dale Gribble), and one of the show’s new writers, Saladin K. Patterson, discuss the upcoming project during a panel.

Shortly before his demise, Joss shared a video on Instagram showcasing the progress of the “reboot” while strolling through Austin, Texas.
Joss was well-renowned for his recurrent role as Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, as well as his appearances in Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, True Grit, and The Magnificent Seven.
