The Kardashians have had their fair share of adultery, including the matriarch of the family. Kris Jenner came up about cheating on Robert Kardashian, Sr., the father of her famous daughters Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob, on the Oct. 26 episode of The Kardashians, calling it her “biggest regret” in life.
The discussion began in the previous episode, when Khloé, who is dealing with the consequences of her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s infidelity scandals, inquired about Jenner’s reaction when her mother cheated on her father in the 1980s. “You’re asking me?” she wondered. “Yes, who else am I talking to?” said her daughter.
Jenner blamed her mistake on being “really young and dumb,” since she was just 22 years old when she married Kardashian, who died in 2003. When you’re in a committed relationship at that age, you don’t “understand the consequences of your actions,” she claims.
She couldn’t define the specific reason why she felt compelled to leave her marriage. “I don’t know, because he was such a great husband and such a great dad,” she said.
“I believe I got into a situation where I believed the grass was greener somewhere else.” And I made a major blunder. That’s basically my worst regret in life.”
Jenner elaborated in a confessional, adding that the friendship she built with her ex after their divorce made her regret how their marriage ended.
“When I got divorced, Robert and I became best friends,” she said. “We talked on the phone all day and helped each other all the time.” And I had some regrets. “I thought to myself, ‘Wow, what was I thinking?'”
Jenner initially revealed her extramarital affair in her 2011 book Kris Jenner… and All Things Kardashian, stating that she cheated on Kardashian at the age of 33 with a 23-year-old guy she referred to as “Ryan.”
“It made me feel young, attractive, sexy, and alive,” she claimed of the relationship. “Along with these feelings came a wave of nausea, because it dawned on me that I had not felt that way with Robert for years.” Todd Waterman, a film animator, introduced himself as “Ryan” in 2012.
While she regrets her betrayal, Jenner tells Khloé that she would not have met Caitlyn Jenner or had her two youngest kids if she had not divorced her father.
“You know, I’m not proud of the way that I behaved during that time,” she told me. “However, you know what? Every event occurs for a purpose. I truly believe that God has a plan for my life and that without that whole incident happening, Kendall and Kylie would not exist.”
