Liam Neeson has raved about working with Pamela Anderson on their upcoming film, revealing he’s “madly in love” with the actress. The veteran performers feature in The Naked Gun, an impending revival of Leslie Nielsen’s beloved comedy. Neeson portrays Drebin Jr., most likely the son of Nielsen’s character Frank Drebin in the original film. The criminal comedy film is officially the fifth installment in The Naked Gun franchise, with Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder, and Busta Rhymes all appearing. Filming on the remake began early this year, and it appears Neeson and Anderson have established a mutual admiration for each other.
In a recent edition of People Magazine, the Taken star admitted: “With Pamela, first and foremost, I’m madly in love with her.” She’s simply wonderful to deal with. “To be honest, I can’t say enough positive things about her. There is no enormous ego. She simply steps in to complete the task. She’s witty and pleasant to work with. She’s going to be outstanding in the movie.” Anderson also had high regard for her co-star, calling Neeson an ‘ideal gentleman’. “He inspires you with his respect, politeness, and extensive expertise. “It was an honor to work with him,” she told People. As the lead of a new comedy, Neeson appears to have reservations about his own comic abilities. At the end of the day, Liam Neeson is a legend, and I am confident he will succeed—but impostor syndrome is real, even for Hollywood performers. “Whether I can carry it or not, I honestly don’t know,” she said.
Anderson disagrees, revealing what Neeson was like while filming. “It was hard to keep a straight face in scenes together,” she stated before praising him as ‘humble’. While Neeson is excited to be part of The Naked Gun, he is disappointed with the Star Wars saga. The actor expressed his dissatisfaction with the seemingly endless spin-offs of the franchise in an interview with Conan O’Brien on his Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, saying, “There are so many movies and spin-offs now, I think they’re diluting the whole thing; that’s my thing.” At times, children express a desire for a Star Wars autograph, but I prefer not to sign autographs at airports.
