Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have a Friday treat for their fans.
On Friday, October 11, Walt Disney Studios released a new image from Freakier Friday, a follow-up to the 2003 comedy Freaky Friday.
In the photograph, the costars recreate their iconic screaming position from the original film, portraying mother-daughter Anna and Tess Coleman, who mysteriously exchange bodies overnight.
The post’s description, “TGIF. 😱 😱 #FreakierFriday arrives in theaters August 8, 2025,” reveals the release date.
Disney revealed in June that Freakier Friday was in development, following years of rumors about a sequel. In March, Lohan, 38, told PEOPLE that the new project was “in the process.” The film concluded filming in August, and Lohan and Curtis, 65, celebrated their on-screen reunion on Instagram at the time.
“It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday, and my heart is so full,” Lohan said in an Instagram photo uploaded on August 19. “The wonderful cast, crew, and everyone from Disney Studios have invested so much time and love into making this movie!”
“It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis, who brings so much joy to our set every day, and she has made this all the more special,” said the actor.
A few days prior, Curtis shared a photo from the film’s set, captioning it, “I am especially grateful to my ultimate movie daughter, @lindsaylohan, without whom we could not have made this film.”
Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao are among the returning actors from the 2003 film, even though the plot of the Freaky Friday sequel is still unknown.
Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons have joined the film’s cast, Variety reported in June. Lohan announced to Entertainment Weekly at D23 in August that Jacinto, 37, will play her character’s spouse in the next film.
