William Gierke, 9, of Wisconsin, was ecstatic with his T-shirt.
She did, however, return home from school in tears and sadness.
His classmates mocked him and called him a “sissy” because he wore a pink T-shirt.
William Gierke, 9, wanted to show his support for cancer patients by wearing a T-shirt that meant something to him.

The phrase “Tough Guys Wear Pink” was printed across the T-shirt, which was auctioned to benefit a breast cancer charity. Unfortunately, his classmates weren’t very fond of the T-shirt. William was ridiculed and labeled a “sissy” because he wore pink.
When William’s mother, Tomi, watched her son come home from school, she was heartbroken. His classmates’ scathing words had made him dread returning to school the next day. The mother had no notion how she might help William. Fortunately, the child had a very attentive tutor.
The instructor took a caring stand against bullying.
William returned to school the next day, expecting more bullying and insults. Then he observed what his teacher, David Winter, was wearing. The teacher was paying careful attention since she had seen how much bullying William had endured because of his T-shirt. So he decided to support William by wearing a pink shirt.
It may appear to be a small gesture, but it meant the world to William. Above all, it communicated to all kids that bullying others based on their clothing is never acceptable.

“I feel more comfortable; I don’t let it bother me anymore,” William stated after his instructor stood up to the bullies.
No child should be bullied because of their attire. This instructor should be commended for standing up for his students. Like and share this story to express your gratitude for this teacher’s support for William!
