Arron Culling of Greymouth, New Zealand, changed the fate of two sea turtles in Papua New Guinea. Instead of becoming a meal in Papua New Guinea, Arron Culling and his coworker Mark purchased two turtles for sale in a local food market and returned them to the sea.
Arron posted about the generous gesture on Facebook, writing, “Found these at the local market.” I got them for $50, went 5 kilometers up the road, and let them go.”

Culling and Mark drove the reptiles down the road to a nearby beach after capturing them. They took the enormous sea turtles from their vehicle to the beach, where they eventually released the sad creatures back into the ocean.

“It’s not nice to see them sitting there.” The tiny one was animated, but the larger one had been there for a while and was a little tired. They were overjoyed to be back in the water. “The little one took off, but the big one was confused and kept coming back up the beach, so Mark waded in with it, and it took off,” he explained.

He’d been with a mining business in Bougainville for roughly three years. On his days off, he returned to Greymouth to see his wife, Gayleen. Gayleen expressed surprise at the response to her husband’s tweet.
