A guy denied a free $11,000 ticket to the Super Bowl 2025 in order to attend his sister-in-law’s wedding, and the internet is divided on his decision.

Jessica Anderson, the man’s wife, recently commented about the difficult decision on TikTok. “Next time you’re sad, just remember Tim had to decline a free $11,000 Super Bowl ticket to attend my sister’s wedding,” she said in an on-screen caption.

The video received over 1 million views in less than 24 hours.

TikTokers filled the comments area, disagreeing about whether Tim made the correct decision. Some respondents stated that no wedding event could compare to a once-in-a-lifetime chance to attend the Super Bowl for free. Others said that family should come first.

“Okay, but why would anyone plan their wedding around Super Bowl weekend?” says the top remark, which has over 23,000 likes.

“I’m not even a football fan, but that’s completely ridiculous not to let him leave,” one person said, while another disagreed, “We need to take a stand against these comments.” I am delighted your boyfriend loves and cherishes you, because the comment section cannot relate.”

Because many viewers believed Jessica did not “allow” her husband to accept the ticket, she decided to release a follow-up video to clarify what actually occurred.

“You guys are so triggered. Let me clarify things out,” she explained. “My spouse received permission to attend the Super Bowl. He opted not to travel alone.

While Tim’s decision not to attend the Super Bowl was entirely his own, he couldn’t go even if he wanted to.

“It was logistically impossible for him to attend because he was invited at 9 p.m. the day before we were leaving on our flight to Mexico for the wedding,” she told me. “And for everyone who says, ‘Oh, my God, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,’ I don’t share that limiting mindset. I will attend the Super Bowl many more times in my lifetime, so keep that belief to yourself.”

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX on February 9. It is unclear whether Tim and Jessica had time to watch the game on television during the family wedding.
