Steve Harvey has continued to inspire America as a class act comedian, TV personality, and promoter of Christian values, from his supercharged religion speeches to taking the bullet for the Miss Universe incident.
Steve, a 65-year-old performer, may be a huge success today, but he will never let the lives of the affluent and famous deprive him of his modest origins. As the son of a coal miner, he understands what it is like to work hard and not have enough.
That’s why his heart bled when he met one specific guy on a Family Feud show.
Steve related the tale of one of his most memorable television experiences in between tapings of his talk show.
The presenter recalls this participant “sweating profusely” to the point that they had to change his clothes throughout the broadcast. Steve attempted to joke with the gentleman in his usual humorous fashion, but he could see something was really wrong. “He had played three days and they didn’t win the money, and he was just a wreck,” Steve said.

Finally, this guy (who was also the captain of his team) won the twenty grand and sank to his knees, crying profusely.
“He just fell on his knees, and he wouldn’t stop crying,” Steve said.
Steve was even more intrigued by the man’s condition at this point, remarking on how emotional he was about earning the money.
The squad captain then looked him in the eyes and stated, “Steve, I’m terminally ill.” I only have three months to live, and I can’t receive insurance because of my disease. This money is critical for my family.”
Taken aback by the man’s determination and perseverance to win a game show in his dying days for the good of his family, Steve decided to give him another $25,000 out of his own pocket.
