Mariska Hargitay portrays Olivia Benson in real life as lost child mistakes her for genuine police officer

During the filming of an episode of SVU in New York City, Mariska Hargitay, the lead actress, encountered a young girl in a situation that seemed scripted but was actually real. According to People magazine, while dressed in her SVU attire, the girl mistook Hargitay for a genuine police officer when she accidentally became separated from her mother at the Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park.

Hargitay promptly halted her filming duties to assist the distressed child. Within minutes, she successfully reunited the girl with her mother. This heartwarming incident took place on April 10, leaving many to praise Hargitay for her quick and compassionate actions on social media.

While it remains unclear if the child’s mother recognized Hargitay, fans celebrated the actress’s kindness, likening her to her SVU character, Olivia Benson. Hargitay, who is a mother herself, understands the importance of caring for young ones. In a January interview with People, she expressed gratitude for becoming a mother later in life, acknowledging the lessons and growth that come with age.

Married to actor Peter Hermann since 2004, Hargitay welcomed her first child at the age of 42 in 2007 and adopted two more children at the ages of 46 and 47. Reflecting on her journey into motherhood, she emphasized the significance of being present and appreciative, noting her desire to share her experiences and alleviate others’ burdens.
