Mariska Hargitay sent some kind thoughts for her husband on their 19th wedding anniversary

Mariska Hargitay, 59, and Peter Hermann, 56, of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” recently celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. The pair got married in 2004 and have three kids.

Hargitay turned to Instagram yesterday to pay tribute to Hermann on their special day. The lovebirds are clutching each other tightly in the photo she tweeted as they dance at their wedding.

Hermann, dressed formally in a black suit with a pink tie, clasped his wife’s hand and smiled fondly at her. Hargitay, who was wearing her hair in a chiffon bun fastened with a stunning flower, captioned the lovely photo:

“19 years. The best dancing I’ve ever seen. This is the only dance I’ve ever done in my life.”

The couple originally met on the set of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and their first date was at a church. Hargitay described her sentiments when she first met Hermann as follows:

“I mistakenly thought he was Superman.”

When Hargitay and Hermann first met, their chemistry was palpable, even to Hargitay’s friend and co-star, Christopher Meloni. Previously, he discussed how he could tell Hargitay had a crush on Hermann (who appeared on the show as a guest) by her actions.

Although Hargitay and Hermann began dating not long after this, the pair almost divorced. Meloni recalls a day when Hargitay approached him and confided in him about a conversation she and Hermann had that nearly ruined their relationship:

Peter and I had a pretty deep, long chat,’ she says. We sobbed, and I simply don’t see it working out.’ And she’s weeping, and the [thought] bubbling in my brain the whole time was, ‘You’ll be married in five months.’ ”

Meloni was bang on the money with his prognosis, as it turned out. Hargitay and Hermann married in a lovely wedding on August 28, 2004.

A media outlet that covered the event reported that a lovely Hargitay’s father drove her to the wedding venue in Santa Barbara to start the day. The bride rode in an old Jaguar, clad in a lovely traditional sleeveless blush-colored Carolina Herrera gown and elegant veil.

Hargitay, who had gardenias and flowers in her hair and had her husband’s initials and wedding date embroidered on the hem of her gown, went down the aisle clutching her father’s hand. Her father read an E.E. Cummings poem while she and Hermann stood at the altar, clothed in a black Dolce and Gabbana suit with a pink tie.

After exchanging vows in the church where they married, the event concluded with a gospel choir singing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” as the newlywed couple departed the venue. The happy couple and their guests walked to the reception with a beautifully placed bouquet in one hand and her husband’s hand in the other.

Jodie Foster, Joely Fisher, Hilary Swank, Chad Lowe, and Christopher Meloni were among the celebrities on the guest list of family and friends. The celebration took place on a private estate near Montecito that had been lavishly decorated. Beautiful flower arrangements, vine-covered alcoves, and dining tables adorned with roses, lilies of the valley, dahlias, fruit, and grasses adorned the forest-inspired location.

Hargitay’s jewelry, which had specific importance, was another distinctive touch. She wore a locket with images of her mother and grandmother fastened to her outfit, in addition to dazzling diamond earrings and a bracelet.

Although Hargitay and Hermann had a hard time when they almost divorced, the pair is still going strong and living a joyful life as a family of five.
