Mariska Hargitay shares a rare photo with all of her children

Mariska Hargitay walked the red carpet accompanied by her three children.

On Monday, June 23, the 61-year-old Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor was accompanied by her three daughters for the premiere of her documentary My Mom, Jayne, in Los Angeles.

The mother of three, who has three children with her husband, Peter Hermann, wore a sleek black long-sleeved dress. Her eldest son, August, 18, donned trousers and a striped shirt, while her youngest son, Andrew, 13, was dressed in all black and pink sneakers. Her 14-year-old daughter, Amaya, donned a baby pink ruffled floor-length dress.

In January 2024, she told PEOPLE that she was “so grateful that I’m an older mom.”

“I don’t know if I could have handled it when I was younger,” she told me. “When I was younger, I wasn’t as present, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to accept and appreciate.”

When it comes to parenthood, Hargitay says she relies on her children and Hermann to guide her through the process.

“The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids, because they taught me to really listen,” she told me. “My husband serves as my guiding light, and my children serve as my teachers.”

The two actors met on the set of Hargitay’s program Law & Order: SVU and married in 2004. Hargitay gave birth to her first child, August, at the age of 42 in 2006. She and Hermann then adopted Amaya and Andrew within six months of one another.

Hargitay said raising three kids has been hard, but she wouldn’t change it.

“Our family is so perfect, or at least it is for me,” she told PEOPLE in March 2018. “We’re just one happy, wonderful, chaotic, crazy unit. I’ve never known anything more correct.”
