The Friends star died yesterday (October 28) after an apparent drowning after being discovered in his Los Angeles home’s hot pool.
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department official, his death was characterized as a ‘water rescue,’ with no obvious foul play suspected.
Friends’ network, NBC, confirmed the awful news in a statement, adding, “We are incredibly saddened by Matthew Perry’s too soon passing.”

“With his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit, he brought joy to hundreds of millions of people all over the world.” His legacy will carry on for many decades.”
Following news of the actor’s unexpected death, tributes have poured in.
“All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I especially did,” remarked fellow actor Selma Blair. Every single day.
“I loved him completely. And I am him. And I’m shattered. I’m heartbroken. Matty, good night.” Good night.”
Meanwhile, Paget Brewster, who portrayed Chandler’s girlfriend Kathy in Friends season four, commented on X, “He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades since.” Please take the time to read his book. It was his legacy to assist. He, on the other hand, will not rest in peace. He’s already too busy making everyone up there laugh.”

Perry posted a photo on Instagram five days before his death showing himself resting in a jacuzzi while wearing headphones, with the caption, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good?” “My name is Mattman.”
That same day, he posted a video of the moon with the caption, “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – “My name is Mattman,” in another obvious Batman connection.
After learning of his death, fans flocked to the image, with one adding, “This caption is so eerie now, 6 days later.” It’s terrifying. Man, rest in peace.”
“You made millions of people laugh.” “Rest in peace,” remarked another, and a third added, “the one where we are forced to say goodbye; thank you for all the laughs.” “You will be sorely missed.”

Perry rose to popularity as Chandler Bing in Friends, with David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow, and became a fan favorite with his snarky remarks and smart quips.
Back in 2021, the actor reunited with his Friends co-stars to tape a reunion episode in which they all reflected on his experience on the iconic program.
The actor has also been honest about his lifetime fight with alcohol and narcotic addiction, most notably in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which was published last year.
He performed a series of interviews to promote his book in which he openly opened up about his challenges, becoming tearful at times as he went into genuine detail.
There has been no official confirmation of the cause of the death.
