Maureen McCormick met her future husband in church and credits their 37-year marriage to ‘our faith’

Today, the majority of people form love connections using dating apps; nevertheless, it wasn’t long ago that finding one’s soulmate required venturing out into the actual world.

Even superstars have to make an effort to chase their possible one true love.

Just ask Maureen McCormick, 67, who first saw her future husband at a performance before winning him over at church.

Maureen McCormick is well known for her depiction as Marcia on The Brady Bunch, which ran from 1969 until 1974. McCormick, who was born on August 5, 1956, participated in several Brady Bunch spin-offs after the series ended.
Despite her renown for The Brady Bunch, the years following the show’s finale were the most difficult for her in terms of personal life. Her bulimia, drug use, and bouts of depression harmed McCormick’s reputation as an actor.

In 2016, she told People, “I have encountered numerous challenging circumstances; however, I learn and develop from them.”

“I sought guidance from God, entered and exited rehab, and received treatment in a psychiatric ward.”

The former child actress was struggling with a cocaine addiction and trying to accept the reality that her performing dreams were not coming true. During a performance, she met a man who she knew would become her husband.

Here’s the story from her memoirs: In Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice, McCormick writes, “I turned around and saw this guy behind me.”

“I had never encountered him before.” He had chic features, a fantastic frame, and black hair. I concentrated my attention on his eyes, convinced that this was the guy I’d marry.
McCormick began his employment and attended the same Bible studies as Cummings.

She even sat near him during church. The former Brady wanted to learn as much as he could about Cummings.

“And it was successful!” They eventually went on their first date after spending more time with him, and the rest is history.
“She was exceedingly candid with me from the outset.” She has always had an open and honest connection with me.

Cummings told the Daily Mail in 2015, “I was never concerned about her reverting to her old behavior, as I figured we would simply address any issues that arose.”

McCormick described their connection as “quick and passionate,” but it did not always go smoothly.

McCormick’s continued struggle with drug addiction and recovery led her to push Cummings away. However, he did not leave.

In her 2008 book, she said, “Michael declared that he had dedicated his life to this endeavor and was determined to persevere until it became impossible.” “He believed that child stardom had immobilized my development, and in many respects, he was correct.”

The couple, who had a kid in 1989, will celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary on March 16, despite the countless obstacles they have encountered.

McCormick had written: “I am aware that our faith is the sole reason Michael and I were able to maintain our relationship despite the significant ups and downs.” “The two of us were confident that our love was genuine, resilient, and worth maintaining, despite the challenges we faced.” Our beliefs convinced us that our love was genuine.

It brings tremendous comfort to read of another prominent couple who have overcome adversity and stayed loyal in their devotion to one another.
